Has anyoone heard of The Black Mages? they are a group who only play Final Fantasy music and some of their stuff is amazing. The guy who is in charge of the band is the guy who does the music for the games, so you can tell it is good. If you are a fan of the series then definately give them a try.

I saw Horse the Band last December, on tour with Dillinger Escape Plan & Between the Buried & Me... ehh didnt really get into em, but yea, the nintendo-ish stuff they do is cool

Minibosses is my favorite Nintendo-core band, they are great live, saw em last summer... their version of the Double Dragons theme kicks ass

There is a new type of music called "nintendocore" the band that really made that label, is my favorite band HORSE the band. They use like 8 bit sounding keys in there songs. They even have some song titles such as Cutsman,Pol's voice, and Birdo. Alot of people think they sing about games but they really don't . Anyway check them out if your into harder, hardcore kinda music. Also some other fine nintendo like bands are minibosses , and 8-bit handhelds, and some others if i remeber i will post up.

horse the band rules i saw them live with dillinger escape plan and between the buried and me...everyone when crazy when they played cutsman..it was awesome..the guy on the moog jumped and hit his head on the ceiling..hahah its funny cuz he looks alot like neopolian dynamite

I know of a band that doesn't really play the actual tunes from old games but use some of the same patches on their keyboards. It's pretty adult themed but they're called Mindless Self Indulgence.

Make sure you check out The Advantage. They don't have full mp3's online but you can listen to the track samples. My buddy burnt me the CD i've linked to. It's not hardcore but it's some technical "effectless" guitar and drum work. My fav is Batman 2.

Spruance and McKinnon from Mr Bungle and FNM are (were?) in a band called Stratosphere (Sydney), and they covered Mario Kart themes, in a Bunglesque manner. Authentic sfx, and realy awesome arrangements of MK. Also, living locally (Melbourne) are two dudes called Super Metal Bros, and all they do is Super NES songs and cartoon-show/movie themes, such as the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (funny, but oddly intelligent arrangement) and Back To The Future theme (bloody brilliant). They are still in the recording process, but I can't wait to see 'em live. Cheers
