There is a new type of music called "nintendocore" the band that really made that label, is my favorite band HORSE the band. They use like 8 bit sounding keys in there songs. They even have some song titles such as Cutsman,Pol's voice, and Birdo. Alot of people think they sing about games but they really don't . Anyway check them out if your into harder, hardcore kinda music. Also some other fine nintendo like bands are minibosses , and 8-bit handhelds, and some others if i remeber i will post up.

I remember coming across a site that showed a live band playing all the contra songs.
If I can only find that site.

Bands that use Nintendo music? How about a band that plays nothing BUT 8-bit Nintendo music?

You have to check out The Minibosses!

I saw these guys live. They are frickin' amazing.

Probably. They have a contra song they do. I have a copy of their old version of it (they released a cd with much better studio re-recordings).

They covered a few different songs from the game. Their songs generally include multiple songs from an entire game. Like if you downloaded their megaman song, you'd hear multiple stages, and the last part of the song is the ending music.

Ok tell you what, I'll upload my contra song I have. I downloaded it free from their website when they offered it (and they are fine with their music being distributed... they say so on their page).

Just please don't share the link with people outside of this forum. My bandwidth can't handle it.

                                Here you go!

Mr. Bungle have been known to remix songs from nintendo games. The ones I have:

                                      Castlevania Melody (live)
Legend of Zelda Video (original little song, very funny)
                                      Metroid
                                      Zelda theme (live cacophony)
                                      Tetris (ska version)
Legend of Zelda theme (rock version)

Mr. Bungle also do a ska version of the Mario theme, I don't have that one anymore.

If you listen to the song "Crawling in the Dark" by Hoobastank you'll hear in the opening riff a very familiar tune: the music from the second stage of Ninja Gaiden 2! I first heard the song on the radio back in college and wondered why Ninja Gaiden music was playing on the radio station. I told my roommate that it was music from a Nintendo game and he didn't believe me. I then loaded Ninja Gaiden 2 into VirtuaNES and played up to the second stage (The one with all the wind) and my roommate was shocked that it was the same music.
