System 8 years 10 months ago Posts: 74809	Drawing a blank.. all I can remember really were the MK rumors about reptile (mk1) and ermac and noob saibot (mk II) What I do remember though when I was like 4-5, the dragonslair cartoon would be on in the mornings.. my older brothers would wake me and my sisters up and tell us to watch it. The reason is they said you could shout either "up" "down" "left" "right" or "sword" at the tv screen and Dirk would follow your commands on the cartoon. Sure not really a video game rumor, but video game related. We must have looked like idiots. Older brothers.................

KI Simpson 8 years 10 months ago Posts: 204	I had a friend who made up tons of stuff about games: There was a hidden character called Whiplash in Mortal Kombat 2 If you beat Turtles in Time on the hardest setting, you got to fight giant Krang. There was a super secret weapon in MegaMan X2 called the choppers. There is a blank space on your weapon screen in MMX2, and even when you get the dragon punch, it stays blank.

The way to fight him was to fight the opponent in the Pit level. You have to defeat the opponent both rounds flawless victory and do a fatality. Then you fight Reptile in the Pit below. He has both Sub-Zero's and Scorpion's powers.

System 8 years 10 months ago Posts: 74809	I also had a friend who made up stuff about games. such as... If you beat "EarthBound" 16 consecutive times without saving you can play as Giygas. Queen Zeal is an unlockable/playable character in Chrono Trigger. You can break through the right wall of King K. Roll's ship in Donkey Kong Country and find a hidden level with an animal friend that is a chimera of all of the previous ones. I also heard a rumor when I was in elementary school about about someone who had put a donkey Kong Country cartridge in a Genesis and a message came up telling him it couldn't play the game. And let's not forget the urban legend of "Polybious" the arcade game that erases your memory!

Speaking of MK.. was that gameboy rumor ever true about the character of Match (I think that was his name) he was supposed to be a hidden character in MK II I think for gameboy. He was supposed to be the guy on fire in Pit II.

System 8 years 10 months ago Posts: 74809	I don't think Reptile was ever playable in MK1 if for nothing else than his unoriginal moves. The hidden characters in MK aren't usually playable in the games they first appear in (Noob, Smoke and Jade not playable in MK2). I lied about a Transformers game on the NES back in the day which my friend has still not forgiven me for. But the most haunting rumor for me is still Sheng Long. If it wasn't bad enough they fooled the US and Japan in SF2 with the gag, revisiting it when SF3 came out was kinda jumping the shark.

System 8 years 10 months ago Posts: 74809	Yep, it was Japanese only. Anyway, I was once told by a friend about how Nintendo came up with the idea for Mega Man and Capcom stole it/ Kids . And let's not forget the infamous Stop 'N Swop. This is my two cents, but I think that Rare wanted to do it by cartrige swapping, but the big N wouldn't let 'em so they just put the eggs in Banjo-Tooie with the same features they would've unlocked anyway.

Mad-Mike 8 years 10 months ago Posts: 539	-The supposed Game Genie "Strip Code" for Super Mario Bros where there would be a naked princess at the end (twas' Alabama, 8 years old and ALREADY discussing nudes....eeek). - Super Mario Bros. 4 on the NES - The oh so hard to get Hammer Brother Mario in SMB3, I thought it was a lie till I got really good at that game and got a ways through Level 7 - Game Genie codes to remove Ariel's bra (yeah right!) - Game Genie codes that allow you to edit levels directly (EG, GUI) That blasted Game Genie was the worst thing to casue rumours, I think few kids actually had one and just made up whatever lame B.S. they could because to our young minds it was believable. Then I finally got to play with one at 19.....no naked princesses, no 5" tall mario brothers, no Tetris games with funky shapes, however, it really wAS great for skewing the graphics and music to be as annoying, irritating, loud, and crazy as possible!

At that time my friend told me that in Super Mario 64, after collecting all of the 120 stars, you could use the cannon outside the castle to shoot Mario into Princess Peach's painting and then you would be able to get to the last fight with Bowser or something like that. And of course once I soon completed the game, I figured that the information was fake....

My cousins swore to me he did this. (Liar!) So i tried to do it and it didn't work. He was telling me I was doing it wrong. I had to aim for her eye. LOL! What a joke.
