I had said that I knew that my 40th article would be a music article. My writing ideas are often reflected by pop-cultural events of various sorts. A recent celebrity death inspired me to write an article once again combining the pop-cultural and the personal. I finished it up earlier this week, meaning I now have two articles waiting to go up. I look forward to them going up.

Just came up with a new idea. It's called "Retroactive" and it's basically about my experiences looking up gems of the past. For example: first time listening to the Who (which was just a month ago), playing and finishing Majora's Mask and Earthbound, that kinda stuff.

Retroactive sounds pretty cool! Haha, I do that a lot already but never thought of turning it into an article. Great Idea!

Yeah the idea just popped into my head. We all do it. It's virtually impossible to understand the glory of all the things in their hayday. For some things we were just too young to understand(or we hadn't been born yet).

I'm fleshing out the article with some ideas right now. The first one is about Majora's Mask. I figured it would be appropriate considering it just got re-released on Virtual Console (and just having finished it). The second one is probably gonna be about the Who and Crosby Stills Nash & Young (and vinyl in general perhaps).

On a new tack, I'm currently awaiting answers from the lead singer of a noted 80s dance group for the latest in my RetroJunk Interview series. I won't divulge any details beyond that, except to say that this person sang a song that was recently featured on VH1's "100 Greatest One Hit Wonders Of The 80s".

I'm currently compiling a "the most evil villains" list. I've checked some online lists and many of the characters I've decided to include have been missed. It should make for an interesting article!

            Suggestions are welcomed!

Note- I'm being quite picky, the villains must be evil right down to the very core. Not even Vader qualifies. lol

Oof that's a toughie. Sephiroth obviously comes to mind, and a whole lot of Disney villains (I'd suggest picking just one Disney baddie to keep things fresh). Oh Vader might not qualify but the Emperor does right?
              Some suggestions:

Giygas (or Pokey, he was a bigger asshole) - Earthbound
              Ganondorf (Zelda)
              Xemnas - Kingdom Hearts
              Akuma - Street Fighter
              Green Goblin - Spider-Man
That judge guy from Who Framed Roger Rabbit

I'm sure there's a buttload more and better suggestions but these are just out of the top of my head.

Pokey wasn't really downright evil. At the beginning of EarthBound, he is Ness' friend (although a rather horrible one), and near the end of Mother 3 you can tell he sorta regrets how he treated Ness.

Also, if you use a Disney villain, go with Scar. I mean, he killed his own brother for power, tried to kill his own nephew, lied and made Simba feel like it was his fault, and even when he got his last chance to live he instead threw burning embers in Simba's eyes.

How would you explain (or justify) his actions in Mother 3 then, and the last letter he sent to Ness? Didn't really sound regretful at all. I guess in hindsight he's more looking out for himself than being truly evil though so he might not really fit the list. Giygas however...

Oh and Scar is definitely a top-three contender for most evil Disney character however Maleficent and Cruella DeVille are pretty evil too.

Here are some villains from 80s movies that I think might work for your article:

-Reverend Henry Kane (Julian Beck) from "Poltergeist II". A cult leader looking to take Carol Anne Freeling (Heather O'Rourke) by any means necessary. He definitely is a creep. Also, he's my current avatar, being as he's one of my favorite 80s villains.

-Eric/Rick Masters (Willem Dafoe) from "To Live And Die In L.A". A murderer and a counterfeitor, he isn't above shooting people in the face or forcing guns down their throats.

-Catherine Petersen (Theresa Russell) in "Black Widow". The tagline is "She mates and she kills", and she definitely does. She marries rich men and stays with them long enough to get into their wills, and then she murders them.

-Mr. Joshua (Gary Busey) in "Lethal Weapon". Cold and unfeeling...Literally, you can hold a lighter to his skin and he won't move. He can kill you within 5 seconds.

-Biff Tannen (Thomas F. Wilson) in "Back To The Future". Not only is he a bully, but he attempts to rape Lorraine McFly (Lea Thompson) as well.

Have you seen that boat ride near the end of Mother 3 that's pretty much dedicated to EarthBound? Or the New Pork City movie theater that's showing like an EarthBound movie? The store to that sells equipment related to Ness and Paula, he definitely has some sort of obsession.

Also, Giygas actually has a reason to be evil, as explained in Mother. It has to do with humans taking PSI power from his race, and he thought they'd use it against his species.

And let's not forget the "Friend's Yo-Yo" which was probably Ness'. That always confused me though. Did Pokey consider Ness a friend or is he just screwing with everybody? Or could he possibly be trying to trick himself into thinking Ness was his friend. It's rather contradicting. He might just be obsessed like you mentioned. Maybe the Giygas fight did something to him mentally.

Giygas is the real big bad though. I just kinda got the feeling that in the final fight he wasn't really in control of his actions (well obviously he wasn't, that was clear) and that he was somewhat remorseful. Strange and trippy stuff.

Yeah, I forgot to mention the Friend's Yo-Yo, he seemed quite dedicated to guarding it. I think he's just naturally spoiled and bratty, which is how he was so easily persuaded by Giygas. Yet, once he got as much control as he did, and it got boring, it gave him time to realize how much Ness really meant to him. So in a way, he does feel bad, but because of his selfish nature, he doesn't let that get in the way of his "fun."

I just submitted an article on the Italian Cannibal Movie genre of the late 70s / early 80's, I am doubting it will be approved due to subject matter. And damn I hate the spacing on this site, I have to edit 3 times and it still looks like shit and adjusts itself...
