Listen. I currently own all but 3 of Van Damme's movies, and I have to say, this is by far his best. Van Dammage takes his licks all the time from those criticizing his acting and life decisions, and this movie completely reflects that. It takes a lot to make me cry. But I actually got sad when JC delivered his monologue 3/4ths through the film. He's not portrayed as a hero. just a man.
    Oh yeah?

His legendary role in Double Team brought existential dread and the universal suffering of man to its cinematic apex.

When he had to dodge those buried mines and the tiger when his baby was being hid by Dennis Rodman... nothing short of Shakespearian.

JCVD wasn't what I expected, but it was a good movie.
