despite the nostalgic hold Res Evil 1 holds over me,

Res Evil 4 s quite simply one of the best video games ever made....

Thank God they did away with that tired old interface!

I agree! I was getting tired of the series until resident evil 4 came along. Most of the other games kept on focusing on the outbreak in racoon city so much it was getting redundant. I'm glad they changed it to more of an action game and changed the focus of the story.

Yes, Resident Evil 4 is one of the best games to come out in 2005, on any console. I recently sold my Gamecube console and games to buy a 360, so I'm now tempted to buy the PS2 version. Apparently it has some new stuff that the Gamecube didn't, and it has been over a year since I actually played the Gamecube version.

Yeah, the Ada missions alone add another six hours to the gameplay.

Plus, I think Wesker is a cool bad guy... sitting behind his desk, doctor Claw like, instructing you to 'eliminate Mr Kennedy...'

i love the game...but the story come on. i can say i hated every single character.i hated the cheesy jokes they made at major points. and maybe it was just my imagination but there were many similarities with the metal gear solid series.

I loved the game. I am a big fan of resident evil (except the second film and the 2 Outbreak games) and thought the new style was very nice. It was not only good to handle but still left the puzzles and the element of fear in the game.
I just don't quite understand where they are going with the series. However Resident evil 5 is looking very good.
Play as Chris Redfield and they have still got zombies in it, as opposed to Las Plagas, though the zombies are fast paced running ones.

Did anyone play Resident Evil Gaiden?

It was certainly a fun game to play. But there's only one problem. IT WASN'T SCARY. I agree with nintendoisawesome about how the Racoon City storylines were becoming redundant, but...there were freaking wolves for enemies. I'd take Nemesis over any of those mutts.

Props to the Regenerators though, and Salazar (not while in his weird tentacle monster/Mother Brain rip-off form). Both were very memorable.

                    I loved that game
                    Had great atmosphere to it
the village the castle it was all good
Was kinda disappointed about the lack of monsters
i was hoping to see things like Hunters and stuff
most of the enemies were the villagers and cultists.
