anyone ever have any experience with one of these?

I think if I were to ever learn the guitar, I'd get one of these bad boys and flatpick that thing doc watson style.

I love the sound it makes.

Here's a video of a guy playing a blues song on one with a bottleneck slide.

These are cool because they can give that electric guitar sound but anywhere acoustically!

I would say that its sound is very distinct to an electric guitar.

In fact, they make electric resonator guitars because of that. I'd love to own one of these bad boys some day (when I have an extra $600 laying around...ha!)

The instrument was invented by the Dopyera Brothers, and their instrument is known as the Dobro (a portmanteau of DOpyera BROthers).

However, since Gibson Guitar Corp. had trademarked the Dobro name, other companies must call their version of this instrument the "resonator" guitar.
