Cosgrove 5 years 7 months ago Posts: 73	Hey guys. Just wanted ask y'all what do you think is an appropriate word count limit for an article? Apparently one of my newest ones is too long for people to read and enjoy. I think if kids these days can read a 700 page Harry Potter book, the average RetroJunker can set aside 7-10 minutes to read a good article. It just irks me in how much time and effort I spent on something, and the simple fact that it's a little too long scares people away. What do y'all think?

System 5 years 7 months ago Posts: 74809	Not sure. I don't think there's a literal 'word-limit' to an article. I think it's up to the writer and how well they can pull it off. If an article is too verbose and drags on and on it may turn people off.

I just took a look and thought maybe people on here are not all that into comics (being that your Anamalagram (spelling?) article isn't scored all that high). But then I saw that you'r costume changes article is fairing better. I don't really know why, maybee alot of people are just busy this week? maybe it will bounce back up in a little bit? I think alot of people may also base there scores or leaving a comment on whether they like or dislike what you are reviewing rather than the article itself, which is a shame. I dunno, but I think your articles have been great, but then again, I am a huge comic nerd.....all I can say is keep it up, and if you think they are too long put them in two parts. I had no problem reading any of your articles though.

tbondrage99 5 years 7 months ago Posts: 925	Much like Cosgrove said, don't do it for the score. My last article looks as though it will be my lowest scored article ever but I don't mind. This is a fun hobby for me that I do for myself if others like it then that's great if other don't like it so much then that's fine too.

Cosgrove 5 years 7 months ago Posts: 73	I think there's a growing number of writers onthe site who get extremely stingey (sp?) with the amount of thumbs up they give. It's a valid hypothesis. She you're waiting on an article you put good time in you get mad when I don't see it approved as fast as you thought. When it does get approved you choose not give your competing with for daily supremacy. I consider myself not one of these guys. Sure, I get mad the longer I have to wait but I tend to give a thumbs up to all 5 articles that make it to the site every Monday Wednesday and Friday. It really has to be terrible for me to give it a thumbs down. There also might be too many articles that come out so people get tired of seeing a set of new ones out every 2 days. So they just pass the chance to read and vote. I don't know. I'm drunk right now but that's my .02

You would think that the higher scored one was the better one, and more of the direction to continue in.But it seems that nothing has been getting scored very high recently....I dunno
