...your dream is now one step closer to becoming a reality.

    http://www.cinematical.com/2009/03/26/sweet-sam-raimi-has-started-writing-evil-dead-4/

Yep, it looks like Sam and Ivan Raimi are working on a new Evil Dead script. Years after all the fanfics, all the video games and comic books, we'll finally get to see Ashley J. Williams dismember some more demons. Raimi said that he's extremely interested in having Bruce Campbell return to the role of Ash, and that without Campbell, there probably won't be a project. Smart move.

So, there you have it. Raimi finally made enough money milking Spider-Man to throw a bone to fans of his original splatter-comedy masterpiece.

I'd personally like to see a return to the more serious horror of the first two films. Army of Darkness was great, but when you watch all three movies back to back, it seems way out of place.

They have been talking about it for years and have even made this claim before. I'll believe it when I see the first trailer.

I'd love to see it. Hope it's more like the first two than army of darkness.

I hope they go with the original ending of Army of Darkness. Too far in the future. Ash in a Mad Max type of world, with mutants and undead.

That could be cool as long as the tone is closer to the first two films rather that army of darkness. I hope the evil invisible force also plays more of a role than it did in part 3. And bring back the demonic possed trees.

If they went with the post-apocalyptic setting, and Ash and some other survivors used the Tennessee Cabin as a safehouse, that would be kind of neat. Really corny and cheap, though.

Didn't the cabin get ruined in the second film? I wouldn't mind that idea to be honest.

I don't think it got ruined. It was never pulled into the vortex. The only thing that happened to it was when the giant tree monster crashed through the front door.

Besides, Ash's actions in the past prevented the stuff from the first two films from happening.

You're right it didn't get thrashed fully. I thought what ash did in the third film is what helped to cause the problems in the first two films by not getting rid of all the demons. In any case doesn't it say in the first two films that these demons can't be completely killed, but lie dormant waiting for the right passages from the necronomicon to be spoken so they can posses the living.

Well, yeah, they can't be killed because they're spirits. They can only manifest themselves through another object. It doesn't have to be a living being, though... remember the lamps and bookshelves from the second film?

So, I guess you're right. When Ash returned to the present, he still had memories of everything that occured at the cabin, even though none of it technically ever happened. That still doesn't stop the doctor from reciting the passages and awakening the Deadites, though. It just means that Ash wouldn't have to deal with it.

I guess you're right about them being able to posses objects. If I remember right they were controlling the clocks, shutters in the first. Not to mention blowing up lights bulbs and making the projector short circuit in the cellur of the first film.

You don't have to be a horror nerd to appreciate the awesomeness of Evil Dead
