This may seem like a dumb question, but I was wondering how to get images from my tv (shows, movies, video games) onto my computer. I've seen lots of sites that have done this, but I have no idea how to go about it. Surely its more complicated than just taking a picture of the TV screen with my digi cam. Any ideas? Anything would be appreciated.

I wasn't sure before, but I do have some sort of TV out slot on my laptop. Does that help?

No that dosen't work. Your laptop does output, but not imput. Besides, if your laptop could do input, it has no analog to digital converter.

Before I get into the techie stuff below, I just want to make clear that the Plextor ConvertX box can also take pictures of the screen on any unit plugged in. Ok, now read below with the extra cool stuff that you can do with the gadget.

I just got a ConvertX analog video to digital video device from Plextor that I can hook up to anything (camcorder [the analog ones of old], DVD player, TV, VCR, etc.). You only need a USB port for Windows XP and for Windows 2000 (all versions), you need to use the microphone port for the audio imput. The importer allows you to convert it to DivX as well, and excelent addition. You can get a refurbushed one for around $50-60.

I hope this helps you out, you may want to shop/seach on http://froogle.com for the best price. The cost is well worth it.
