I was in a Tide Commercial that ran nationally from 1972 - 1974 during "days of our lives" and "The Sonny & Cher Show". I am looking to get a clean copy of it and I know someone has it on a tape with other programming...I just haven't come across it yet.

There is a VERY similar commercial out there that follows the same format which is an offer for a two for one swap of a leading detergent for the Tide box in the grocery cart. The one that is already on Youtube is "Mrs Richard Christian" from Illinois. It can be found searching "Retro Tide" if you want to see the format of it.

Anyway, I was in this commercial as a 4 yr old boy and my mother was being interviewed. It is titled "Mrs Rogers from Bowie, Maryland". It looks very similar to the one I mentioned before.

If anyone can track down a good copy of this, not only would I be very greatful but I would be willing to purchase it.

Let me know if anyone has any luck and thank you.

    Bob Rogers

I have contacted Proctor and Gamble (owners of the Tide brand) who say the original archive footage was damaged in a fire. Compton Advertising, who handled this production for P&G at the time, was bought out by Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising in NY and has no footage from projects completed in the early 70's.

I have searched all avenues from the originating sources and am left to find it from collectors who have old TV footage from that time frame. I know it's out there somewhere... I just need help finding it!

The only place I know of would be these guys. However they are a news source website. You might want to do a search and see if it ever ran during any national news broadcast.

Thanks! That website is a great reference for old news media. I e-mailed the web administrators of that site to see if they could offer any leads or scan their database from that time period and have received no response. I will shoot them another inquiry. Any other suggestions are welcome and thank you!
