Yeh dude, i also can't figure out why they didn't release this movie on video in the first place until 1996?

You think THAT'S bad? I think I'm the only person with songs from the actual soundtrack on my hd...everyone else just recorded from the movie. Sure wish that cd didn't get scratched beyond playability during a move...look how much it costs NOW.

To be completely honest, I don't know if I ever saw this in theatres or not. When I watched the movie on Disney Channel a while back, it seemed SO familiar to me, like I'd already seen it before.

I'm pretty sure I've seen it as a preview in theatres. Did any other "kiddy" or "family" movies come out from Disney in 1988 that anyone can remember that may have had Oliver & Company as a preview?

I saw it in theatres in 1988, and now that I think about it, I think that was the only time I ever saw it.

No, I doubt I saw it that way. I meant an actual theatrical release.

I remember seeing Oliver and Company in theaters back in 1988 when it first came out. I love how i can remember that and I was three, yet I can't remember anything I need to know for midterms next week!

Oliver and Company is such a good movie. I was so pissed as a child b/c they didnt release it on video till I was in the 5th grade. I remember I had all the McDonalds Oliver and Company toys and the Sing-Along to it.

I love that movie. One of the shelfs in my room has all my Oliver and Company stuff including the Sears O+C plushies. *Lisa*

Cool! they have it on DVD now if you didn't know it.

On youtube they got the Mcdonald's commercial for the finger puppets just type in Oliver & Company to find that commercial.

Interesting question. I actually do remember seeing it in the theaters. I loved the songs, characters, and humor. The ending really scarred me though.

This is one of Disney's more underrated efforts, I only saw it in theaters but I thought it was pretty good.

I don't remember seeing it in theatres but I do own it and I do remember one Christmas my sister and I got those Talkgirl tape recorder things and recorded this one song that the dog sings and then put it on high speed playback. We thought it was really funny and I don't know why, but now I feel like watching that movie.

Here's one of the Mcdonald commercial promotions for the O&C happy meal toys back in 1988:
