I mean the original 1988 theatrical release!

Well i sure as hell did back in 1988 when i was 6, it was in the winter of that year and i was living in Omaha Nebraska at the time and my mom and dad took me to see it at a theater at one of the shopping malls, i loved it. I even saw it again and one more time after Christmas, i had some of the original merchandise like a Plastic Sears Figure, Pajamas, A storybook, Coloring Book, Readalong Book with Cassette, Mcdonald's Singing Christmas Tree ornuments and Mcdonald's finger puppets.

But unfortunately it never came on video and left me a little disappointed but i never forgotten about the movie, not even my mom and dad forgotten about it cause they still did remembered the first words of the song "Why Should i worry". Luckily back in 1996 when i was 13 turning 14, i read an article on Disney Channel magazine saying that Oliver and Company was returning to theaters on April 10th 1996, i was sooo excited cause a long lost missing piece of my childhood was coming back, even some of my junior high chums remembered seeing that movie when they were little in theaters and were also p'oed that it never came on video, i did saw the re-issue two times in theaters and loved it again just like i did as a child.

During that year, it was also about time that it came on video after 9 years of waiting and i bought it the first day it came on video, it instantly became one of my favorite animated movies of all time but now i have the tape replaced with the sweet special edition DVD. Boy this movie sure brings back great 80's chilhood memories!

Correct, it had billy Joel and Bette Midler as the purple poodle, Cheech Marin was The Chihuhua.

Anyone remembered those Mcdonald's Finger Puppets and Mcdonald's Christmas Tree Ornuments that sing?

I HAVE the Oliver finger puppet at home sitting on one of my shelves! I saw the movie when it came out in 88, I was 8. I loved it 'cause it had a kitty, and I was just about to get my kitty who looks like Oliver. Another fact: Joey "WHOOOA" Lawrence was the voice of Oliver. :D

oliver & co. is the first movie I ever remember seeing in a theater, I remember my dad got off of work early so that he could take my sister and I to see it. I boasted about it for a month telling people it was the best movie i'd ever seen (being 4 years old, it probably was at the time) :D

Was definetly a favorite of mine, although I cant recall watching it before my father bought it on tape for me. But I was so persistant in wanting the thing that I must have liked it or seen it at some point.

I saw that movie at the theater with my dad, it was like right before christmas and my mom was happy she could get some christmas things done while we were gone. My dad said that I could be the girl in the movie because my name is Jenny too. For christmas that year I got an Oliver sweatshirt with Jenny and Oliver on it. And I had the coloring book too.

I saw it in the theater and I remember that my sister and I bought my mom a Tito doll that year for Christmas. It had the bite mark on the ear and everything. I couldn't believe how long it took to be released on video!

Boy this movie sure brings back great 80's chilhood memories! i think the movie is a sort of retro animated metaphore of 1988 New york City, that Rita in the movie is one sexy toon dog and Sykes was probably an animated version of a Scarface badguy.

If you're from Omaha, you must've seen that at the Westroads Cinema or the Southroads Cinema, neither of which is there anymore. I used to go to the Southroads Cinema all the time, but I only went to Westroads a few times. I remember seeing Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey then. Man, that movie is still genius.

Yeah, I remember seeing it in the theater! I got chicken pox while during Easter/Passover break from school and I was visiting family in Florida. My mom snuck me in to see the movie and we sat in the back. I probably infected the whole place - shingles, anyone?

Oliver and Company is the first movie I recall seeing in a regular movie theater, although first movie I recall going to see in theaters period would have to go to Who Framed Roger Rabbit (saw it at a drive-in). I was 4-5 when it came out.

I remember seeing the movie once in the theatre back in 1990. I also had the book and tape (the tape included all the music too, ). I'm sure the tape's still laying around somewhere, but it's probably gone for good. Anyone know of any websites that have the music?
