Hi Everyone,
HELP Needed! I am very new to this site as I just found it, while seeking out some information on VHS tapes and if they are desired by anyone anymore.
Seriously, I could really use some advice about a large collection that belonged to my brother, it consisted of all kinds of media/music/tv/movie memorabilia. VHS, CD's, DVD's, newspapers, magazines, collectible merchandise, Press kits, etc. Almost anything you could think of. I think realistically after seeing the collection he may of been a little obsessed. Of course he was obsessed who else would go to these links, but it is bad manners to speak ill of the dead.
My brother died in 2007 after being diagnosed with a birth defect that shows up in the mid 30's. He lived to be 43. I miss him and my family misses him terribly. We are finally getting around to deciding what to do with his collection(S). As said it is extensive. He had collected more than a few thousand videos, several hundred or maybe thousand of commercial VHS tapes, some unopened, he also was our family videographer, and loved to tape anything and everything on TV. Unfortunately organization was not his forte. I had the distinct pleasure over the past 4 months of rewinding and watching snippets of the video tapes in hopes of finding those "treasured" family videos. I thankfully found about 60 of them out of the thousands.
Now what do I do with the other thousand VHS tapes. Landfill, or a new home. I wish I knew if there was a market for them. I am writing this in hopes that someone here knows the answer. The commercial tapes I am sure I could bundle and hope to get some response on EBAY, but what about these.
He taped Soaps, Movies, Nascar Races (I found the one where Ernhardt died in the Daytona 500), Awards Shows (Music, Academy, People, Emmy, BET, ETC.), MTV, CMT, Letterman, Leno, Sitcoms, Cartoons.....my point is what didn't he tape. However it is a complete total unique horror to me. Help wanted to know what the options might be.
They are located close to Nashville TN if anyone is wondering.
Thanks for any advice,
Shari
