....the 25th Anniversary version of Cobra Commander.

At last, the supreme Cobra leader is mine!! I ordered him from ToysRUs.com mostly because I was getting impatient in my quest to find him at a store. However, I saw him twice at the store during the holiday season but I had to restrain myself and save my money for Christmas gifts for my family. Unfortunately after Christmas I tried to go back and find him at the stores where I saw him but most of the G.I. Joe figures were gone. Maybe I should've just bought him on one of those two occasions but its neither here nor there. Cobra Commander is now here to stay in my awesome collection. Though I now have the supreme Cobra leader, I would still like to find Zartan, Scarlett, The Baroness, and two additional versions of Snake Eyes from the 90's that I found to be pretty cool.

    COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOBRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I do still love getting stuff in the mail (besides bills!!! >:-()especially after a rough day at work like today. Which reminds me that I better renew my subscription to Mad before it ends in May. With each issue since about October, they've been pestering me to renew the magazine. Its not expensive, its just that I've been busy paying bills and buying things I need (like food...lol). Maybe next Friday when I get paid, I'll finally renew it.

Anyway, back to the subject of "The Commander". Let's just say there was a huge smile on my face when I saw an envelope on the kitchen counter addressed to me from TRU Direct (my aunt brought in the mail), especially because I ordered the figure almost a week ago and I was anxious because I probably only shop online about once every couple months. I was even happier when I opened the envelope and then the figure itself and set him up next to his fellow Cobra brethren, Destro and Storm Shadow. He's oh so very cool.

A lot of people will disagree with me but I actually prefer the helmet version of the Cobra over his hooded counterpart. He's just a little more mysterious. Kinda like Darth Vader.

I was just checking out YOJOE.com again and I decided I want to hunt down a few of the G.I. Joe characters that are featured in the hilarious G.I. Joe PSA Parodies by Fensler Films. I definitely want Blowtorch for sure ("Porkchop Sandwiches!!";), Gung Ho ("Susie, don't forget your sandwiches!";), and Mutt ("Hey kid!! I'm a computer.";). I know these characters were first made popular in the G.I. Joe cartoons and comics, but I was introduced to a few of these more obscure characters via the PSA parodies and I think they're great in this capacity.

Weird, the Cobra Commander figure i had as a kid had the hood over his head, not the shiny mask.

The hooded version of Cobra Commander was actually the second version of the character. A lot people are more familiar with this version but I actually prefer the helmet version over the hooded version. Its still the same character, just with a slightly different appearance.

Here are some snapshots of my collection with the addition of the Commander and Storm Shadow that I took today. He is a great addition to my collection and he really rounds it out. As I said before, I still want Zartan, The Baroness, and Scarlett, but at least Cobra Commander makes the collection look a little bit more complete.

Its not a big deal to me to open action figure packages. I'm not planning on reselling my collection anyway. I say what is the point of buying something if you can't open it and enjoy it? I've collected Star Wars figures like this for years....
