Ok guys, you knew this was possibly coming.....but to all of my fellow NYorkers, how did you get to work/school, and how long did it take you? I live at the edge of Bed-Stuy close to Crown Heights Brooklyn and work in East Harlem which usually takes me an hour to get to via the subway. My supervisors already told me not to worry about coming into work, but I hate that I'm losing out on money (although I'm able to get some last minute shopping in :) ).

It's less a lack a cars and more a lack of street.

About half of New Yorkers have cars, so that means that the other half are without. Even with cars, its hell trying to get into manhattan and on top of that find parking without a meter and/or using a parking deck, which could run you $10+ and hour. Its just more convenient and quick to take the subway then even think about driving. Oh yeah, on top of that, we also have alternate side of the street parking which means that for instance on Mondays and Thursdays you can't park on the right side of the street between the hours of 9am-11:30am and vice versa on the rest of the days of the week, because they have street sweeping. I know its a headache that they have so many rules, but this is New York, so they feel like they can do whatever they want  . And natch is right, you cannot get into manhattan before 11:00 am if you do not have 4 or more people in your car, they will simply turn you away  .

Ok my good little citizen, now how's about some brussel sprouts :) ! Open wide b/c we want to be strong like "The Incredibles":lol::lol: ! You know, that's the trick that I use on my preschoolers to get them to eat their veggies, especially spinach.

Im a NewYorker, but I didnt have to go anywhere to experience the strike. It would be hard if I had too work in Manhattan. I never liked the idea of driving in Manhattan anyway, less stress, less road rage

And it works? My oldest nephew is a crackup. I could never get him to eat spinach or anything like that..... but he does love to order anything "Market Price" from the menu.

Oh yeah, it works for the most part  ! Now, do they finish it all....nope, but at least they give it a little try  !

Lucky you Toonhead, its a beautiful thing when you don't have to mess with Manhattan let alone deal with their crazy lunch prices
