My mission...wake up around 6:30...avoid waking up my mother and grab the biggest bowl of preferrably Fruitty Pebbles to watch Saturday Morning cartoons.

6:30 Captain Noah's Magical Ark usually played all those Popeye cartoons with Brutus, the Sea Hag and her trusty vulture

7:00 am Courageous Cat and Minute Mouse

    7:30am Flash Gordon

    8:00 Gummi Bears

    8:30 Smurfs

9:00 Mighty Orbots unfortuneately this classic only lasted one season

    9:30 am Dungeons and Dragons

10:00 I think it was Humanoids/Robotix/Bigfoot and Muscle Machines/Jem...truly outrageous

10:30 Kidd Video/Alvin and the Chipmunls

    11:00 to 12:00 WWF wrestling

    12:00 ABC Weekend Special

    12:30 Pole Position

Then the rest of the afternoon was Kung Fu Theater

Geez..no wonder I never left the house to go outside.

It was just magical all that entertainment we had back in the day.Have a rough week at school but you always had our Saturday Morning lineup to make us look forward to the weekend.I am much older now so most of my Saturday mornings are spent in the gym but the poor kids today are in such a "Depression" Reruns of Hannah Montana,Thats So Raven,Suite Life with Zack and Cody etc. and theses episodes are three years old.I am sure kids don't have the cereal we have today I bet they go to Starbuck's.But they still have Youtube.com /DVDS and can still most of these shows. But to me I cherish the way "we" had it on Saturday Morning.
Being ol' school may have happened in the past but it WILL ALWAYS be my present and future

Someday, I'm thinking of setting up my own Saturday Morning schedule by using Sony Vegas to put some of the shows that I liked as a kid and exporting it into a huge 6-hour file on my external hard drive and play set up a time to wake up and play the whole thing through my digital camara. It's not much but I'd try that.

And the kids of today are gonna have their own memories of the shows that's on TV today. Heck, some of the cartoons you listed weren't that great either. Such as Mighty Orbots, Jem, Kidd Video, and Pole Position. Don't get me wrong, I like some of those shows, but they're in no way are they made with quality.

My schedule was just like yours!

I'd wake up and watch Scooby Doo, Gummi Bears, Pole Position, Mighty Orbots and I can go on and on.

Now they play nothing but shit on Saturday Mornings. Who wants to sit through reruns of shows you can watch on the Disney Channel? Not me.

I'd totally forgotten about Kung Fu theatre. I remember enjoying it a lot.

Well I recommend you watch Mighty Orbots and Pole Position on YouTube because I still love it.Yeah Kidd Video cartoon is crappy but the songs at the end are not.

Which is 90 percent of the people on this forum. If you go to the forum of Mockery, they bash me for just liking her. I personally don't care what they have to say.

I think she's half black, half Cherokee (I think, might be wrong). And she still looks good today even though she's 60 years old.

What does this has to do with Saturday morning cartoons? Anyways, cartoons don't suck now, you just outgrew them.

Is this a thread about Saturday Morning Cartoons or Phylica Rashad?

Also, mlw1984 is right. The quality of cartoons themselves hasn't declined at all, you just grew up. The basic networks hasn't been showing cartoons on Saturday Morning as much as 20-30 years ago because of the rise of cable television.

Seriously, those who keep going on about the quality of some of the old cartoons themselves, I think you should go back and rewatch episodes of Transformers, Mighty Max, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, or heck just about any cartoon made by Hanna-Barbara and DIC Entertainment. I like some of those shows, yes. But they're really not made with quality. The cartoons made by Warner Bros and Disney were though, but not the ones I mentioned above.

Bottom line, this topic has turned out to be yet another "Cartoons suck now" thread.

The only recent cartoon I could sit down and get into is Ben 10.ALL THE REST SUCK!They are full weird looking characters and all they do is yell and act stupid.Only time when I watch Cartoon Network is when they have something retro on.

Hanna Barbera not quality?Yeah right....I didn't notice the brilliance of Top Cat till I was older so some things you do see different as you grow up but not always in a negative light.

You speak "quality" but there is none in todays cartoons the animation looks like something my niece could draw. The characters have no physical definition they all remind me of Ren and Stimpy with the drooling and open mouths etc. They call those animators professionals?

Yogi Bear didn't yell and act all stupid. He told his jokes and ran around stealing picnic baskets was it repitious...yes but it kept me entertained and by that it was quality.

Of course you outgrow some 80s cartoons...I was watching Voltron just now.Yeah the quality of the voiceover dubbing is cheesy now that I am grown(I am an aspiring voiceover artists myself) but the animation isn't.

But no one can tell me what Saturday cartoons come on today?Because there are none.

I was just checking the Saturday Morning lineup and there is nothing but news and infomercials until 9:00 am CST. Even then most of the programming isn't even animated. I do think kids today are missing out. Saturday mornings we had in the 80s and 90s is something they will never experience.

Edit: 22% of households don't have cable or satellite plus many of the TV's in the house don't get all of the channels. So there is still lots of kids missing out.

Don't even listen to them. They are just bastards anyways. There are no cartoons on Saturdays these days, just informericals and news. No wonder why today's kids are missing out. They got Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon.
