How authentic to the originals do you like your games?
I almost always choose to play Mega Drive, Super Nintendo and other consoles in their original form!
I only go for Wii Virtual Console if it is a system I am not as close to, like the TurboGrafx 16 or the Commodore 64, yet I do have the Virtual Console version of Famicom Disk title "Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels".
I do like to use backwards compatibility functions of a newer console, but my personal preferance is to play the original game on the original console.
As much as my first overall choice in this subject is to play the original PlayStation games on a real PlayStation console, I would also buy the PSN download versions o the games, so that I can play them on the go on my PSP (same reason why I also have the SEGA Mega Drive Collection game disc for my PSP despite me preferring the real Mega Drive overall).
Newest thing I own is a ps2....and that rarely gets used. I even collect arcade boards now....that should answer your question
The only exception is I enjoy playing final fantasy 6 more on my gba than the snes for some reason. This is really weird because I much prefer ff4 on the snes.....and every single other game that was ported from snes to gba I prefer on the snes. But yeah handhelds are really the only systems I buy ports for. Playing lots of my favourite snes games on the go is great. Too bad the gba doesn't work well for porting genesis games. I'm a big hardware freak....so I easily notice the difference between playing on the original hardware and emulating.
