      I collect records. I currently have nearly 3000. I have mostly 50's, 60's, & 70's rock / psychedelic.

I, however, have an intense passion for jazz records.

I work at a thrift store and we get new things in daily... hook me up with jazz records and I'll hook you up with whatever you want...

3000 records? Wow that is a lot. There's been quite a surge in vinyl popularity around here for a while now. Everybody's picking up their old stuff again. Gotta love it. Even though I like collecting new records just a bit better.

Yeah, I have a lot of newer records too. I love collecting records by the Mars Volta and black metal records from Southern Lord Recordings.

Picked up a few treats at work today:

The Rolling Stones - "Some Girls"
Stevie Wonder - "Songs in the Key of Life"
            Genesis - "Foxtrot"
            Eric Clapton - "Slowhand"
            The Doors - "Greatest Hits"
The Kinks - "Give the People What they Want"
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - "Hard Promises"
Van Morrison - "A Period of Transition"

and 2 albums from some obscure artists I have never heard of but looked interesting:

            Dr. John - "Self-Titled"
Spinners - "From Here to Eternally"

If you can find it, Dr. John's first album Gris Gris it's excellent.

Nice catch! A friend of mine gave me the album
Genesis - Selling England by the Pound. Don't know if it's any good cuz I hadn't had any time to listen to it yet but the fact someone just bought me a record just 'cause he knows I collect them is cool.

Oh and Songs in the Key of Life is a classic.

If you like any of Peter Gabriel's solo stuff you should be into Selling England... There's a couple of really adventerous longform tracks on there.

Cool. Haven't had time to listen to it yet though but I kinda figured it'd be like that.

Sorry for reviving and old topic but I didn't feel like making a new one. The Sziget festival has ended a week ago and to my surprise they had lots of stores with old and new vinyl records in them for dirt cheap! The spoils:

Jimi Hendrix - Electric Ladyland (!)
                            Daft Punk - Discovery
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon (!)

I'm not really but I would really love to collect some of Dr. Demento's old vinyl records. I still wish he'd convert the old vinyl's into CDs.

I finally got my turntable yesterday!! It's a Crosley 4-in-1 Rochester Entertainment Center with a turntable, CD player, radio, and cassette player. It's a fun machine and I'm looking forward to collecting some more vinyl as a new hobby. I already have 7 albums that my mom and I have been collecting in anticipation and I finally have the chance to hear them.

Here is my vinyl collection too thus far:

                                -Kiss--Destroyer
                                -Pink Floyd--The Wall
                                -Kiss--Dynasty
                                -Kiss--Rock and Roll Over
                                -Phil Collins--No Jacket Required
                                -Chicago--17
-Rod Stewart--A Night On The Town

I was the most excited to finally listen to The Wall on vinyl because it is one of my favorite albums of all time and I've been wanting to hear it on the original medium it was released on.

Cool albums. If you could you should try and get The Wall Live in Berlin. The album's great but the live concert is legendary believe me.

Isn't that Roger Waters' solo project or do you mean "Is There Anybody Out There?: The Wall 1980-81"? I didn't know either one was released on vinyl. The Wall live would be neat to own.

On second thought yeah it's Roger Water's solo project. This is the one I'm talking about:

                                      Fucking legend.

I love The Wall but honestly I hate Roger Waters for becoming the ego maniac he did.
