I'm beginning a collection of basically stuff i like (it's small now, no sense getting records i won't listen to) and i was just wondering if you collect them. How big is your collection? Have any pics? Do you think records are better than CDs? Stuff like that.

I collect records, my collection is rather large, nothing really spectacular in it. Its mostly random music, I listen to most of them. Last year at a garage sale I got 2 crates of records from a really nice man for 2 dollars. I mean these crates were full. When I got home I inspected them, there were a lot more good ones then I had thought, this included anything from Bryan Adams to AC/DC to Gordon Lightfoot. Yes, I do think records are better than CDs.

I collect vinyl too, mostly rock with a bit of stuff from other genres I like. I have around 275 albums, I haven't tallied up my collection in a while. I get my stuff from used record stores and thrift stores. I keep my collection to stuff I really like and valuable albums by my favorite artists when I see them at reasonable prices. Occasionally lately I've been buying brand new vinyl at indie and chain stores. It's a good way to get new and recent titles on vinyl and reissues of music that's hard to find otherwise, like stuff that didn't sell much in it's intial release.

I prefer vinyl to cds, I listen to vinyl at home and mostly my mp3 player when I'm going around place to place. I do have a cd walkman but I've been very disappointed in cds. No matter how well I keep them, they eventually scratch or deteriorate in some way.

I have started a modest vinyl collection as well, but I'd still like to try and obtain a portable turntable with speakers on the cheap. Here's what I have so far:

            -KISS--Destroyer
            -Pink Floyd--The Wall

Not too bad, huh? Anyway, I'm mostly interested in collecting The Beatles, KISS, Pink Floyd, and many other classics on vinyl. It won't be a big collection but its still something I'm kinda interested in.

Records make me happy. Right now I'm waiting for the Neanderthal LP to hit the streets.

Off to a good start there, Jango. I've got a nearly complete '67 - '83 Pink Floyd vinyl collection. I'd like to get A Nice Pair which has their first two albums packaged together, More, Atom Heart Mother, Meddle, Obscured by Clouds and the Final Cut. I have all others on vinyl and I have the ones I mentioned on cd but I'm getting fed up with cds. They scratch way too easy, even when handled right.

My dream record to find right now is the german pressing of Zappa and the Mothers' Weasles Ripped My Flesh with the different album art. I've never seen one in any store. They show up on the online used music store Gemm sometimes. I've seen it go for a whole wide range of prices, from about 40 dollars to 400 dollars. Some of the lower priced offers have made me tempted to dig out my credit card. So far I've resisted.

Pink Floyd is definitely one of my favorite bands. Besides already having The Wall on vinyl, I'd like to hunt for Darkside Of The Moon and Wish You Were Here on vinyl. Those are my other two favorite albums...as for the turntable...I may wait until summer when I have more money but it doesn't hurt to start a vinyl collection, especially because most of them are cheaper than cds used. BTW, cool avatar. I haven't visited Ill Will Press in a while for my Foamy and Germaine fix. They're great.

Nice collection, vintagetv. I collect too, but nothing compared to some of the rare ones you have. I noticed two Sonics Albums in your pics that I've always wanted The Sonics Boom and The Sonics, Wailers, and Galaxies Merry Christmas. I just recently found Spiderman Rock Reflections of a Superhero at a Salvation Army thrift store, but I can't find out it's value in any price guide. I've read that a copy sold on Ebay for 500 dollars, but the only album I could find there sold for 20 bucks, still shrink wrapped and supposedly in perfect condition.

All records are for sale and guaranteed. I use currogated cardboard boxes to ship records. I don't use flimsy post office mailers,no pizza boxes lol.

I bought my original for $10.00 of Spiderman Rock Reflections LP from a walk in/mail order record store in Indiana over 7 years ago, that store closed shop for good a while back. That's the 1st time that I have heard of such a high price for the Spiderman LP. It didn't sell well back in the day. It's been reissued on cd too. The Sonics Boom has been reissued on vinyl & cd. The Sonics,Wailers,Galaxies Merry Christmas reissue is long out print on vinyl & cd.

The Sonics Boom LP & CD reissue are still in print available thru Norton Records Mail Order.

Nice, I got my copies of Dark Side of the Moon, Animals and the Wall for a dollar each. Dark Side of the Moon was missing it's sticker sheet but has the original album bag and two posters in good condition.

I also got my copies of Frank Zappa's Overnite Sensation and Apostrophe from a dollar clearout bin of a used record store. I laugh my ass off when I see copies at used stores now cause they usually go for $20 each.

I've made some other good one dollar finds over the years as well like Genesis' (from the Gabriel led period) Nursery Cryme (1971) and Foxtrot (1972) together on a double album at a St. Vincent DePaul's, and from Value Village an original King Crimson Wake of Poseidon, Bloodrock vol 3 and original copies of the Beatles' Rubber Soul, Sgt. Pepper's..., Magical Mystery Tour and Abbey Road. All of those Beatles albums apart from Abbey Road were mono copies too and Magical Mystery Tour still had it's booklet, pretty impressive.

Finally a topic about vinyl! I'm an avid vinyl collector myself, new and old records. I have about at least 150 records including a shitload of Van Halen, Prince, Status Quo, Beach Boys, Pearl Jam, RHCP and lots more. I'll post some pics later if anyone's interested.

What songs were on that Spidey record btw? I've never heard of it.
