Wow, I actually didn't know people were dissing Nickelodeon in 1996!!! I've said before I'm not a TV Sucks Now person, but I was going through the dark depths of the internet ans came across a person complaining about the recent cancellation of Pete and Pete (in my opinion the best Nickelodeon show ever) in 1996! Take a look

Pete and Pete is history. It's up to us to let Nickelodeon know that this
cannot happen. They cannot get rid of the most inventive show they've
ever had. Nick shows a lot of crap(All That, Keenan and Kell...) Pete and
Pete was something Nick could be proud of.

    Rock on, Tony Taylor

I have to agree with that. Nickelodeon went downhill around 1996. The only good show after that was Angry Beavers.

I've been saying that for years. Nobody really agrees with me.

People always complain about the current stuff. Then when they get older, they reminisce over it.

Old Nick in my opinion didn't really die until Spongebob Squarepants premiered in 1999...and its still on 10 years later making it the longest running Nicktoon in the history of the network.

That gay yellow sponge took down an entire TV channel. After it premiered in '99, Nick started cancelling "Kenan and Kel"...and the cast for All That wasn't too great anymore. They lost some of the good ones like Danny Tamberelli and Lori Beth Denberg. Soon, snick was thrown out the window and replaced with TEENick?? What the crap??

Well there we go. That's one example of a person who outgrew Nickelodeon in the 1990s. People who are just as old as this guy would say that Kenan and Kel and All That is the biggest piece of garbage they're ever seen which many of us who grew up in the 1990s would say that they're our favorate shows. Plus kids 10 years from now will feel the same way.

Well, I had a brother who was in the target audience of Nickelodeon at that time and he thought All That, Kenan and Kel and all those shows sucked.

Yeah, I was 10 when All That started and I thought it was stupid and not funny at all (though I was never the kid who liked "silly" comedies). Same with Kenan and Kel. I was born in the mid '80s and think '96 was when it went down hill...but that's my opinion...Long live Roundhouse!!!!!

I like Kenan and Kel too. Same with All That (the old episodes that is).

I bet Tony Taylor was out of the target audience of Nickelodeon by 1996.

Well the Nostalgia Critic is doing a tribute to all Nickelodeon shows through the late 80s to the mid 90s this coming January, I guess people thought that nickelodeon went downhill then, but in my opinion in went downhill completly in September 2000, there's even article to prove it.

Nickelodeon in 1996 was cool to me, imo started sucking around 1998.

I'll repeat something I said in an earlier thread, but this time I'll underline it and type it in blue.

Cartoons are made for the children of the current generation, not angry nostalgic adults.

You win this thread. Kids shows are for KIDS. Not adults. So you all have no right to be whining about them.

People also fail to realize that Nickelodeon played shitty shows back then as well. How many of you remember Hey Dude? That was pap. My Brother and Me? Even worse shit.

I liked Hey Dude. That show was awesome. I couldn't stand My Brother and Me, then again, I don't like urban shows in general which is why I didn't like All That or Kenan and Kel.

I loved both Kenan and Pete. I also hated Cousin Skeeter, it wasn't the same type of sitcom but i still hate that guy.

as for Pete, they had Artie. The Strongest Man....in the World.
