Here is a topic where you can talk about incidents that have scarred you in the way of pop culture:
This is a true incident that happened to me. I was working on a play with two other girls, unfortunately too young for me. They were talking about remakes. They asks me about them, and I said that I think they desecrate classic songs and movies.
    They responded with:
"Remakes make things better. The Madonna American Pie song is much better than the original"
My brain shut down for a week. I looked like this
I had to get this out there.

Unfortunately they got away to their home town in diffrent states before I could think straight. This was after such lines as:
"Lobby scene in Matrix? It's been a while sinse I seen it and we need to move onto the sequals."
"I'm not seeing Kill Bill 2 unless it has more blood in it"
This arrosed from her claiming that Kill Bill 1 came out in 2000, it wasn't a year after the first one came out, which I believed was 2002.
and worst of all, after talking about intelectual movies
"Along Came Polly was a great satire of the seriousness that goes into a love movie"
My response "I saw that movie, and I was one out of three people in the theater and there's a damn good reason why that was!"

My response would have been : "Listen sweetie, it's really cute to hear big adult words like 'satire' coming from your candied lipbalm-coated DSL's, but you should probably reserve them for people that have been out of diapers for at least ten years."

they were actually 15. I should have mentioned it earlier, but they at least fuel my anger to society.:twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted:

Saying Madonna's version of "American Pie" is better than the original would get one killed in some parts of the country.

I go to some other message boards that little kids go to (like under the age of 15). They think Gwen stefani is an up and coming new solo artist and think that the song "Melt with you" was sung by the click 5 or somebody like that.

I agree with the first statement.....the first Gwen Stefani was abducted by aliens and replaced by a reprogrammed clone.

Question i want to ask is: Why didnt you slap them with a fish?

nothing for nothing but thats just Blasphemy!Madonna's version has no heart to it..but i guess those girls wouldnt know about that.. those girls need a real music history lesson...

not only is madonna's version bad but madonna betrays herself every day she gets out of bed. If 80's madonna met 2000's madonna 80's madoon would kick the other in the nuts.. cause frankly shes gotta have a huge pair to get away with half the crap shes trying to pull off now-a-days.

Oh, I don't think so....she's conveniently stashed away in England with her husband....we Americans are slowly forgetting about her since she's not so much in the limelight. I'M SORRY, BRITS....IT'S NOT OUR FAULT! :(

When buying movie tickets for Kill Bill, Vol. 2, a group of idiots who know nothing about Quentin Tarantino tried to impress one another (as well as everyone around them by talking very loudly) with thier "knowledge" in Tarantino trivia. Among the various gems I've heard:

"I saw Pulp Fiction, you know. That was his [Quentin Tarantino's] first movie!"

And the biggest horror of todays pop culture: Nobody is aware of the fact that films like Death Wish and even Halloween and Scream were considered original for their time!

She just released a new album, and her latest single landed in the #1 spot on the Top 40.

The funniest thing that I see around in the past 6-7 years are the little white suburban brats running around with their do-rags, one pant leg rolled up, waistband somewhere around their knees, walking with a fake limp and screaming "yoyoyo what it is motherf***er!" and equal sillyness at each other. I once even saw a little putz with "Compton" tattooed across his flabby white gut. Put him in the middle of Compton he would be destroyed in less than 3 minutes. Seriously makes me fear for the future.

I went to Motley Crue in March. I was telling some people I work with that I was going. The 22 year old girl in my office didn't have a clue who Motley Crue even was!!! Come on!! It's Motley Friggin Crue, I couldn't believe it. My mom knows who Motley Crue is, and she thinks Tommy Lee is cute too. I blame the crap music that's coming out these days. Kids don't have any idea what good music is or should I say used to be.

God, I so HATE High School students! They seriously piss me off with their smart-ass remarks and the way they act like they know everything (When the reality of it is, half of them don't even know what the hell they're talking about)! I've met a lot of girls who are similar to the ones you mentioned. Sounds like the typical dumb blonde, high school cheerleader type! You know, the ones who act all snobby and stuck up, but when they get home they go and throw up in a jar and save their vomit? Of course, I'm not referring to ALL of them but a lot of them are so immature and just plain retarded! Next time, please just b*tch slap them for me!

I have to agree with that, I saw some guys dancing a party believing they were the funniest guys ever, to be dancing to music older than them! At first we all laughed at them until my brother pointed out that it was us 5 years ago.. and its true! How depressing it is when you loose that foolish innocence

I agree with Captain Caps, but honestly, that doesn't excuse them from not knowing things like the fact that Gwen Stefani used to be in a band just TWO YEARS AGO. It's funny because everyone thinks the Black Eyed Peas are a new group too. Have they been hiding in a cave for the last few years? Or is there a certain age where you begin to become engrossed pop culture, making everything before then obsolete?

And I frankly cannot believe what they said about the new American Pie song.

Come on now, we're all guilty of playing into the youth culture, but at least I knew that U2 has been making music since before I was born, and that Limp Bizkit did not write "Faith."

Does it happen as the result of adolescent egocentrism, or do they just like to believe that they invented everything? :?

Yep, it is a... neverending story . I know i can't stand how SOME of the teenagers I meet or come across seem so out of touch with real music, movies, acting, etc, but our parents saw us the same way,and so on and so forth.
