Daniel85 9 years 8 months ago Posts: 1699	I don't know if it was the same in the US, but I remember back in the early 90s seeing the Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers and Tiny Toon Adventures one-hour debut specials on at some time in the evening, like 6 or 7 PM. I don't remember what days they were on... probably Saturdays. They were shown on free-to-air networks (either 7, 9, or 10 if you're an Australian and know what I'm talking about). That kind of programming wouldn't happen these days, even for the premiere episode of a new hit cartoon. I was thinking that maybe cartoons were bigger business in those days, but that's probably just because I was a kid then so cartoons and toys were really all I cared about. And cartoons seem to be as big as ever these days. I guess it was a simpler time back then. Can anyone remember any cartoon specials on in prime-time in recent years? Not including kids' cable channels of course.

System 9 years 8 months ago Posts: 74809	I remember for a couple of years NBC aired cartoons in prime time on Friday night before they aired in the morning. Kind of a sneek peek at the new shows. Captain N, Mario Bros., Mukuly Culkin's Wish Kid cartoon, All-Pros cartoon featuring Michael Jordan, Bo Jackson, & Wayne Gretsky. CBS aired Muppet Babies on prime time, the Star Wars episode.

System 9 years 8 months ago Posts: 74809	I remember that Tiny Toons you're talking about. It was done on a Friday night to get kids to watch the new cartoons the following morning (I assume). Does anybody remember the prime time cartoon sneak peaks one year which was hosted by Joyce DeWitt? I felt pretty bad for her after watching that.

eightiesgirl86 9 years 8 months ago Posts: 153	This was done for the Duck Tales series in 1987. I remember watching the pilot for it with my siblings at about 7 or 8 and it was about 1.5-2 hours long. I believe it was on the Fox network, then only about a few months old itself.

Lastdaysofrain 9 years 8 months ago Posts: 139	I remember they would have whole Saturday Morning Preview specials in Primetime, usually an hour long, hosted by a "star" of the day and featuring clips from all the new shows. I remember seeing episodes hosted by Dustin "Screech" Diamon and by ALF.

Demoscoobydoo 9 years 5 months ago Posts: 74	I was looking for this topic. I remember the old Friday night previews before the new cartoon season. I remember one was call "Alf Loves A Mystery" (I used to have it on video, but I'm not sure what happened to it), and Alf found a comic book and talked to the New Archie's kids. I can't remember the rest of the shows previewed, but I remember looking forward to seeing all the new cartoons that were coming out. I also remember another one were Punky Brewster (live action) went into the Gummi Bear house and talked to two people wearing costumes. She also went through a rainbow and previewed her new cartoon series. That's all that comes to mind now.

I fondly remember NBC debuting "Saved By The Bell" and "Captain N: The Game Master" where the SBTB kids had to travel buy a HUGH nintendo gamepad to find/save the new cartoons or something.

jemgirl86 9 years 4 months ago Posts: 623	I thought I had remembered Chip and Dale rescue rangers and ducktales being shown in primetime at one point! For the longest time I couldn't figure out whether I just thought I had remembered it or if it was actually occasionally aired then.
