Alright, it has been a very long time since I posted. VERY long. When was the last post? The World Series? Jeez, talk about procrastination, lol.

Okay well let's get started with what's going on today.

Reggie Bush - This guy is outstanding! 1,658 yards rushing with 15 touchdowns, as well as 384 yards recieving on only 31 receptions with 2 touchdowns. Average rushing attempt gets him 8.9 yards! If I were the Texans, 49ers, or Jets I would just lay down and take it so that I would be in prime position for drafting this guy. And before you get your panties in a bunch, I was only kidding. No team should ever purposely lose or purposely put forth very minimal effort to ensure a draft choice. He is going to boom in the NFL. Looks like we got another LT.

Colts - They never cease to amaze me. I think and I hope that they win it all. This will be a team that that will become legend, and I am so happy for them. But I think this would add even more pressure on the playoffs and/or the superbowl. Simply for this reason; if you go undefeated and lose in either the playoffs or the superbowl, it's going to send a fist hard into the stomach of the Colts. And they probably won't be the same team the following year. It seems that the loser of each superbowl crashes into despair the following season, I'd hate to see that happen to the Colts.

NFC - teams are looking a lot hotter than they did last season. Panthers, Falcons, Bucaneers, Giants, Cowboys, Seahawks, the Vikings (I never saw that coming after their start this season), and even DA BEARS! I'm rooting for a classic chicago bears vs. indianappolis colts superbowl... well I'm really rooting for the Redskins to pull off a miracle but I don't think that'll happen. But it looks like that the AFC no longer owns all of the power houses alone.

WBC - World Baseball Classic... that's a funny name. You'd think they'd call it the world baseball cup, or tournament. But I have to tell you, I am so excited about this that I have the urge to purchase tickets to see one of these games.... just the urge, because flying down to california or florida from New Jersey is a pain in the wallet all on its own. I love global competition, mainly because I am in love with America. Ever since I saw footage of the 1980 winter olympic match in hockey between the Soviet Union and the USA, I just cannot stay away from global competition... for the most part. The events that interest me the most are the events that are actually major sports here in America. Wrestling, Baseball, Basketball, Hockey... now if only the NFL caught on well with the rest of the world.

Anyways, this is the first time major league players are being allowed to participate. The tournament is from March 3 through March 20, during spring training. That is the only reason why MLB is allowing it, because it doesn't interfere with the actual season. No more scrubs from the lower minor leagues, these are the big boys! USA has a great lineup; Derek Jeter, Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Jason Varitek, Lance Berkman, Michael Barrett, Johnny Damon, Adam Dunn, Chipper Jones, Andy Pettitte, Jimmy Rollins, John Smoltz, and Dontrelle Willis just to name a few stars. But don't think this will be a piece of cake for team USA, players are playing for other nations as well. And I think the one nation we should worry about the most is the Dominican Republic. They have some great players; Bartolo Colon, Vladimir Guerrero, Pedro Martinez, David Ortiz, Albert Pujols, Manny Ramirez, Miguel Tejada, Robinson Cano, and Alfonso Soriano just to name a few of their stars. Other MLB players are scattered among the other nations as well, but they don't have as much talent as team USA and Dominican Republic. I hope things go well and that they decide to continue this for years to come.

I don't really follow hockey or basketball, anyone is welcome to make commentary or add more reports.

It's pretty crazy how a small island nation with a population of less than 9 million (equal to the population of New York City) can produce so many amazing baseball players. The Dominican Republic will be tough to beat.

In my opinion, there are two teams that can knock off the Dominicans. Of course, the US has some great players and will definitely battle for the title.

The dark horse, and my surprise pick, is the Venezuelan team. They are filled with guys who may not be MLB superstars yet, but when they're on their A-game, they can't be beat. Bobby Abreu and Melvin Mora anchor their lineup, but it's the pitching staff that will carry them. Johan Santana, Carlos Zambrano, and Freddy Garcia should keep them close in any game, and K-Rod will close for them.

It's really tough to say, because I can definitely see this team get knocked out early if they're not hitting well, but I feel that Abreu will have a monster tournament and win the MVP, and Venezuela will make it to the final game vs the Dominican Republic. After that, who knows what will happen.

Uh oh! A-Rod is leaning towards playing for the Dominican Republic. Man... if they land A-Rod, team USA has some extreme competition. And I envy anybody going to that last game, which will surely be USA vs. Dominican.

Hey, have you figured out a way to check other peoples' profiles? :? I can't seem to find a link.

*EDIT*: Looks like you just type the user's name after the normal URL, i.e. http://profiles.sports.yahoo.com/nippythefish

Merriman is quite the amazing player. Ive been lucky enough to see him play the past few years in college, and he's always been a beast.

Great draft pick by San Diego, he's gonna be a pro bowler for a long long time.
