As someone who has to do a lot of the stupid shit in that movie - rushing to catch flights and rent cars and catch trains and find the right the connections and stay at shitty hotels... - I can totally relate to it now. I remember a couple years back when I was on a return flight from Japan to Australia I was feeling completely miserable about leaving my girl friend behind but ten minutes into Planes, Trains and Automobiles I was pissing myself laughing (not literally). The scene with John Candy airing his socks on the plane: classic.
