          		 Yes it is, you should check out it's original 1986 prequel "Manhunter" which is based on "Red Dragon". This movie was so influential it that it inspired "Se7en", "Saw", "Bone Collector" and more.

            I've been meaning to see this one ever since I discovered it was the prequal. It looks pretty good. 8)
