    Hi all,

I was just wondering if any of you have a sizeable arcade by your home (or hometown). I realized from a conversation with my good friend, who also lives here in Santa Cruz, that we may have one of the largest in the country at our Boardwalk. There may be like 600 games on the strip (in three different arcades)... maybe more? Kinda cool for such a small, strange town. (FYI, if any of you mofo's have seen Lost Boys, you can ALMOST see the arcade in a few shots on the Boardwalk).

As a funny little aside, a few years ago I went to central america, and, particularly in Nicaragua and Guatamala saw absolutely HUGE warehouse sized arcades. The funny (and cool!) part being that they were all old machines from the US (WARNING: If you are playing this game outside the US.. blah blah blah).. the games cost and equivalent of about five american cents to play. Most of them were broken or had "nuances". I found games I hadn't seen in days and it was cool to see all these kids rallying around them (hell these were some poor-ass parts, and these kids prob don't have gamecubes). I played Cabal finally again, at long last. Just couldn't roll.. ha ha.
Aw man, you smell like Phys-ed!

The only ones that we have here are more like family fun centers. I miss the old dank, dark arcades when the games were $0.25 each, and only a few of the newer fighting games were $0.50. We have one at the theatre as well, but the games are incredibly overpriced. You get three tokens for a dollar and every game costs at least two tokens.

I miss the days of an arcade at every mall. That was the fun of going to the mall back in the day, seeing what games they had in comparison to yours.

      *Sigh* Good times!

We've only got three arcades left in my city, and they're all pretty shit. The only really good machine is the 300-in-1 one. And one of the arcades doesn't even use coins anymore, you have to put money on a card and then swipe that into the games.:x

Alot of Fat kids sweating on DDR, but a noteworthy amounts of Capcom and Namco fighting games.

But, my of age friends, The Video game arcade is alive and well in Las vegas. many a casino has an oversized arcade to entertain the screaming
pre-pubescent masses while their parents gamble away their college funds.

Hey anybody else seen those awesome Capcom arcade machines that have like 25 old-school games on them. Everything from Captain commando to Streetfighter II
I just know they have these in heaven's waiting room.....

Doesn't RetroJunk regular MISTY work in an arcade?

We have this place called Tilt in our local mall. When I was much younger I spent hours there trying to earn tokens for useless prizes. My mom and I walked past it the other day and I realised that I wasted a butload of money on nothing.
Dot: Don't look down. You might fall and hit your head and die and your brains would leak out alllllll over.

There's a roller rink near me that has quite a few arcades, but that's the closest thing. After that, there's a few machines in bowling alleys, theaters, etc., but the selection is usually sad (an alley I'm going to this weekend has Ms. Pac-Man & Joust, though).

There used to be an arcade near me called Funsville USA, absolutely awesome. I didn't have an NES yet (dark days), but I could always play the coin-op SMB there!

There are some Tilts at my 2 local malls. There is also an arcade in the next city over. I went in there once just to see what was there. There is another one by my Jr. college. It's a arcade/web cafe. That one is pretty run down. All the machines look broken.

The arcade I work at is total crap where all the hoochies and mall rats hang out. There's a section of ticket games that always break, then a bunch of shooting games and racing games. And of course, Tekken, which all the guys hang around so much you'd think the machine was growing tits or something. Oh, and the air hockey table way in the back that also never works.

Plus the manager is totally fucking retarded. Black Friday he apparently distributed 1000 coupons for $1 in free tokens. Never told me about it, I get into work and there is only $5 worth of tokens in my safe. I called him and he didn't come in to get more tokens til over THREE HOURS later and then he told me to make sure I whore some gift cards when I give out the free tokens.

HOLY CRAP!! I forgot about that! The arcade in my home town had that back in the early 90s. The place has since closed down, I think about a year or 2 ago. It had been in the mall since it opened in the early 80s. I have a lot of good memories of that place throughout it's history. My biggest is playing Super Mario Bros. when it was brand new. I miss arcades like that, now all my quarters are pumped into dart boards at the bar.

If you're ever in Fullerton CA go to the Regan Arcade they have all 80s games and there is a vintage toy store next to it.
