My friend and I used to collaborate on fan fic in middle school. She was an excellent writer, so no one could ever tell her age when she submitted things. They were still extremely campy, but entertaining. We only collaborated on humorous stories. We wrote a west-side story themed fic for Super Smash Bros, a spoof of The Mummy, not stuff that gets overly cliché. Oh, we also wrote a Titanic spoof using characters of a cartoon.
Funniest line from one of them that I can re-call:
"And with that, he ran at the speed of 6 horses (the 7th died of Colic)..."
Oh, we also wrote several song spoofs. We did so many for Legend of Zelda. They were insane, too, because we often chose rap songs.
My first fanfiction was an outline for a new Star Wars trilogy once episode VII was announced. I was surprised by some of the ideas I had in there and it was really fun.
A short synopsis- the trilogy centers around Han and Leia's daughter. The Sith are back, operating from a rogue planet (a planet without a solar system). They are led by a mysterious figure and his devoted followers, a band of Dathomirian Zabraks (Darth Maul's species).
The evil being turns out to be a clone of Luke Skywalker, the DNA was retrieved from Luke's cutoff hand in the Empire Strikes Back. He's a representation of what Luke would've been like if he had gone to the dark side. The Sith's plot is building a force amplifier that is a weapon of mass destruction by sending asteroids at the Republic.
The irony is that the Republic begins building a laser that can destroy asteroids (AND PLANETS), Queen Leia then has a crisis of conscience about using the weapon, she gets flashbacks of Alderaan. One of the story arcs is that since Leia is Vader's daughter, she too is tempted by the dark side.
There's also plenty of "side quests" and the coming of age of Han's daughter.
Recently I've also been working on a screenplay for XCOM lol
Novelty fanfiction can give you a good laugh, though. Especially that explicit troll sexfiction called "Homer Loves Marge".
A laugh, I suppose. I just looked that up and read it, it's kind of funny. But, the only reason this can be considered good is as a parody of everything awful about fan fiction. I don't think that redeems the craft, if anything it further condemns it.
