You know a lot of haters seriously can't stand Dragon ball in many if not all of it's incarnations. While I'll do admit the dub is chopped to bits and full of stupid ass dialouge, it really not that bad a show.
It's very imaginative, fun, and was alot of the same kids who now bash it introductions to anime.
BTW, the PSX games sucked but the PS2 games were pretty kick ass
For a long time I got wrapped up in all of of that Dragonball Z stuff.
What fascinated me the most was the combat, I couldn't care less about the story and all. People could move faster than the Flash. They were stronger than Superman. And they had the power of a hydrogen bomb at their finger tips. It's the ultimate comic book in animated form, and it was pretty kick ass.
But I lost interest half way through that Buu Saga. I mean I had already seen the most intense combat possible, even though they became even stronger the combat looked the same. So I stopped watching. But I mean come on, no super hero has the level of strength, speed, and overall power that those characters had in dragonball z.
Now don't come debating to me about whether or not they are in fact faster than the Flash or whatever. I don't know, but it looks pretty close. What I do know is that they are stronger than Superman. And again... hydrogen bomb at finger tips... 'nuff said.
I was the biggest Dragon Ball Z fanatic when I was younger. I didn't like it as much when they started showing it in America. The sub-titled imports were much better. They took forever to finally air all the episodes when the show was already over in Japan. I don't watch it at all now but I still play the video games. I don't think the PSX games were that bad. I don't play them as much as Budokai 3 and Budokai Tenkaichi though.
I always found the games to be majorly sub-par. The GBA games are just plain silly (oh no, Goku at the start of the Saijin Saga got killed by a single wolf!), and the Budokai series is literally nothing more than a button smasher.
Yes, its a button smasher. I played Killer Instinct to the point I could do infinite hit combos. I can pull off any Mortal Kombat kombo you could name. And I could *NEVER* get any of the special attacks on any of the Budokai games to fire off reliably when I wanted, even when the training mode said I was doing the move correctly. I rented several of them, and literally beat them by smashing the buttons until the other guy stopped moving.
I'm still ticked that Pan isn't in the new one either...
