I haven't read any of the books. I wasn't interested in the films until they aired on TV. I liked the 1st film, but I thought the 2nd one was boring. I thought the third film was the best so far. But I wanted to know what you guys think of the 4th film. I want to see it, but I heard that if you didn't read the book you might be very confused.

I thought the 4th film was really good. Then again I've read all of the books and have seen all of the movies. I don't think you have to have read the 4th book to see the movie. It's pretty understandable. It was good though. You should see it.

Yeah, it's the best so far... and it was the best book too IMO. I read an article yesterday in USA today that quoted a man who saw the film on a lark, having never read the books or seen the other films and he loved it.

In the words of MR. Horse from Ren and Stimpy.

"NO SIR... I DON'T LIKE IT" It left too much out.. I know it was a long book but I feel that if they could make LOTR series last longer they should do the same for the Potter series.

They did leave a lot out in the movie but I liked it.I saw the 1st film when it first came out before reading any of the books and I knew very little about Harry Potter I just knew he was a wizard and a lot of kids loved the books. After seein the movie I came home and read the books I was hooked. Harry Potter ROCKS.
It's OK, next time I'll make you listen. I wish that it were in the power of all children to say that to their parents and to know that indeed they would be heard as we were in those wonderful days on Waltons Mountain.Narrator The Waltons (From the Runawa

It did leave out quite a bit from the book. But, if you haven't read it, you will not miss anything. If they tried to cram everything from the book into the movie, we'd have to sit through a 12 hour film. I would not recommend taking smaller kids to see this though, as it gets pretty dark.

I'll go with "or what on ron being cute." As far as it being too long so be it, like I said...if they made Lord of the rings longer then Harry Potter should be too. And I don't think it was dark at all, Labyrinth and the Dark Crystal were far more creepier then this movie, it all just goes back to this era's little kids being raised by a bunch of neo yuppie scum wimps with no spine and sucking the scariness out of anything.

I loved it, I went with two people who have never read any of the books (Thats why I was there to explain stuff) and I only needed to explain one thing and that was what was up with Neville. Two kids in front of me did cry at the end. And they did leave ALOT out, but I think they did a good job with it. My only deal is when they make the 5th movie they better have more of Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley) in it, b/c she has HUGE character development in that book. But I liked it and Ive read all the books and I know when you transfer a book to a movie not everything makes it. Hell not all the details of LOTR even made the movies.

So go see it, it was funny and well worth my $7.50.

Like I mentioned in the other topic, even though it left out a lot, I liked it fine. I just like the fact Neville got so much screen time for it. His role was bigger in this movie way more than what it was for the book, and ass ome may or may not know, Neville is a favorite character for me.

One thing I'm surprised wasn't asked, was how Barty Crouch Jr. actually managed to get out of Azkaban if he was to have supposedly died there...or was that not mentioned in the movie when Harry asked Dumbledore about it?

Oh, speaking of that, the Penseive scene, I wish Harry would've acknowledged the Longbottoms like he did in the book. You know, showed how sorry he felt for Neville after finding out how Voldemort affected his family. That wouldnt' have taken too much time to do.

I agree with what people have said about the best bits being missed out. The argument with Fudge at the end would have been great in the film.

Oh yeah; Rupert mentioned that filming for movie 5 begins in February. I wonder what changes will be made to it, and if they're even going to keep in Kreacher since they did drop the whole subplot with Hermione and S.P.E.W.

Thanks guys, so far it seems like a really good movie. I read that IMAX theaters are showing the film, that is cool and I think I'll have to consider it.

I saw it the day before Thanksgiving and it had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I've read books 1 and 2 and the first part of 4 (tried to finish it beforehand, but had no time), so I can't comment on everything, but I've been lurking around on mugglenet to hear die-hard fans' reactions.

I liked the darkness and the humor of the movie. It was nice that the Weasley twins were in it more, they're great!

What really annoyed me was the dragon scene. It was way too long/exaggerated and someone told me that some of it didn't even happen in the book. Why did they do that?! Why not chop it and use some of that time for character development or plot?! Speaking of the plot, this movie should have been two movies. Or a long movie with an intermission. Too much was left out and they'll have to make up for it in later movies. Mike Newell (?) directed it well, but put too much emphasis on the wrong things, but not as much as Cauron I guess. Sigh. I hope the new movies are split up. Or lengthened. And I hope the added scenes for the DVD is better.

Also, Gambon (new Dumbledore) just doesn't fit the part well. I know it's a daunting task to take over for McKellen, but they could've done better casting. He had a big part in this movie compared with POA and his weaknesses really showed up here.

But overall I enjoyed it. The movies are slowly gaining steam.

I thought it was good. I saw a headline on CNN that said "new Potter film tries to do too much". But after seeing it I was like "do too much? they left so much out". Still, it's probably my favourite so far.

And I agree about the new Dumbledore not being very good. I didn't really notice in the last one, but in this one he'd make me cringe sometimes.
