Daniel85 9 years 7 days ago Posts: 1699	It's so bloody frustrating when a game you've been 'jonesing' for, as the kids say, gets cancelled. The one that gets me the most is Robotech: Crystal Dreams for the N64. It was announced in like 1995, and was going to be one of the flagship launch titles for the 64. It wasn't around when the 64 launched, though. That's alright, just some production difficulties, my Nintendo magazines told me. It'd be out next year. But it wasn't out that year, or the next. Eventually, I think at E3 or something, it was officially announced that the game had been cancelled and the developer had gone bankrupt. All that waiting for nothing. Anyone else ever been really looking forward to a game that was cancelled?

Then I remember I was reading in a game mag and it was cancelled and being remade for the 64 and we got Starfox 64. So I quickly got over that one, and about a year ago, I just downloaded the rom file for Starfox Beta; didnt miss anything.

Phantasmagoria_3D 9 years 6 days ago Posts: 600	I am a pretty big fan of the Dragon Quest/Dragon Warrior games and was looking forward to Enix giving "Dragon Quest IV REDUX" an American release back in 2002 for the Playstation! It was obviously supposed to be a remake of the original NES game! But then they just HAD to cancel it! WHY?!

I had heard about that, and was too disappointed, although I didn't know that a remake was coming and then canceled until just several months ago. But why was it cancelled? Enix of America (before they merged with Squaresoft to become Square-Enix) was ready to begin the localization. Heartbeat, the company that programmed DW IV, pulled out of the console industry to work on other various projects. Due to Heartbeat's complex code nobody but Heartbeat could input the translated text in a timely manner. So Enix of America was left in the lurch. The rumor that Heartbeat was mad at Enix about DQ VIII is just that, a rumor. At that time, Enix had not chosen Level 5 yet. It was completely their decision. There was no feasible way to bring DQ IV over. PS nice to know im not the only DW fan here.

System 9 years 2 days ago Posts: 74809	I actually saw the game trailer for what was going to be Earthbound 64. At first it didn't really look like what I was hoping it would be but then I started noticing it had the stuff I liked about the snes version namely the player being able to watch a live gig haha. There were a lot of problems plaguing the creators of that game. Most importantly whoever was doing the rendering, I hear the people just really weren't that experienced. It was called Mother 3 and was actually demoed back in 1999! http://media.ign64.ign.com/media/001/001968/vids_1.html That is a video of it. That music sure brings back some memories... you can hear a little bit of the snes theme in it. From what I can tell it seems you are playing in two ways. One through Ness and Jeff... I don't see the others and then what appears to be Ness' dad with his dog. Perhaps they were searching for each other. Man now I really want to play this game too bad it was so messed up and never translated. Actually I just read this when the game was demoed from that site: "Known as Mother 3: The End of the Pig King in Japan, the game picks up 10 years after the original Mother left off. The player assumes the roles of the Clint Eastwood-like cowboy Flint and the two kids Lucca and Klaus as well as their dog Boney. Although it was a bit hard to gauge how the final game -- and more importantly, its story -- will come together judging from the still only 50% complete demo version shown at Spaceworld, but the game looks very promising so far." so a new cast eh! ugh

System 9 years 2 days ago Posts: 74809	just found this mother 3 is alive http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n08/mother3/ well for game boy advance and not until 2006 but wow. and apparently a game cube version of mother 3 is still supposed to be making some headway! we'll see!
