Extremely sad day.. the Karate Kid was one of the biggest reasons I started martial arts. In my dojo, I use some of the techniques and ideas from the movie, namely getting the students (between ages 5 to 50) to mimic every day activities in their movements, something I picked up on after rewatching the Karate Kid movies. I can only hope to be as good a teacher, mentor, and friend to my students as Mr. Miyagi was to Danial-san.

Rest in peace Pat Morita, and please know that the character Mr. Miyagi had a huge impact on my life.... your memory will live on in my heart.

man who can catch fly with chopsticks can accomplish anything.
                  RIP Miyagi Sensei

Good idea, but with 8 inches of snow outside, I think I'll pass.

my dad never taught me how to paint the fence, wax the car, and sand the floor, I had to learn that from Mr. Miyagi. He was like a second father to me

I didn't even know Pat Morita died. That's always sad to hear that someone dies. If they ever make another Karate Kid movie it won't be the same without him. They've made 4 so far as I recall. R.I.P. Pat Morita.
