I've been selling on ebay for a couple of years now. You should set up Paypal before you do anything else. Make sure you mark you listings to require a paypal account, that avoids a lot of problems. Make sure that when you describe your item you list any little imperfection that might matter to someone else, and be sure to include a time limit that they must pay you by (or you will relist the item).Downloading a tool from the free listing tools is a big help too.
You can buy a new scale to weigh your items at home for cheap (on ebay )and then you wont have to guess shipping cost. You can then print the shipping label off your printer and have the post office pick it up from your house. The post office will also supply you with various sized boxes for free if you use priority mail (which most people perfer anyway).
The listing(ebay fees for selling are listed on ebay under sell now) and are based on how much you start you item for and how fancy you want your listing to look. Finishing, final price percentage is given to ebay based on final item sale price. Paypal also charges a small fee based on a percentage of how much your item sells for (including shipping cost).
Some people get mad if you don't use a new box to ship, and make sure you state that you don't accept returns, or that if you do, that they are responsible for shipping the return and that they will only get back the item cost, not the shipping cost.
It can be worth it, if you put the time into it, but usually it is just a little more than breaking even. That is unless you have a really unique item.
If you have any more questions, feel free to pm me. This post is already accessivly long. |
