We all know Titanic has the largest box office sum (600 million dollars) but will Dark Knight beat it?

Not to sound mean, but do you think the movie is only popular because Heath is dead? Do you think it would be as popular as it is now if he were alive?

It would be really something if that happened.

It'd probably still be a big hit, because the movie has Joker and Two-Face in it, plus it was a long-awaited sequel. However, I think Heath's death was a little factor in its success and could have possibly boosted the gross by about 100 million.

Sort of. If he were still alive then the possible third movie would probably be even bigger.

Titanic made a lot more than $600 million. I think that's just what it made here in the US. World wide, it made around $1.8 billion according to Box Office Mojo. They say the reason Titanic made so much money, is because people kept going to see it over and over and over. I remember my sister saw it 7 times. Because of this, the movie was in theaters for 6 or 7 months. I really can't picture Dark Knight still being in theaters in December, and that's the only way it could beat Titanic...and it also would depend on how popular the movie is in other countries. I remember I went on a trip to Europe during the time Titanic was in theaters, and that movie was HUGE over there.

The Dark knight won't sink the titanic but the joker will :P

Titanic is a monster that won't be beaten yet for years, The Dark Knight will break $500 million maybe even $550 but there is no way its going to make the $160 million more that it needs to.

Besides kids and the obvious Batman fanbase, the rest of the movie go-ers are probably going based off of Heaths death.

Do you think if he would have died shortly after filming that Titanic would have been even bigger?

Maybe. DiCaprio wasn't really a top name before Titanic, as much as I hate to say it Titanic is what made Leo a star, not Growing Pains or even his amazing performance in Whats Eating Gilbert Grape.
