    Hi,

How would Home Alone 3 have performed at the box office if the production of it went according to the original plan of having the cast of the first two Home Alone movies being carried over and reprising their roles?

This plan never got underway because 20th Century-Fox Studios would not allow director Chris Columbus (the director behind the first two installments of the Home Alone series) and producer John Hughes to shoot #3 back-to-back with #2.

Frankly, I don't believe any of the main child cast would have wanted to return for #3 anyway due to the ages of the respective character portrayers. Do the rest of you agree with me on thisl?

    For instance, in 1997:
Macaulay Culkin (b. 8/26/80) (role: Kevin McCallister) was 17 years old.
Michael C. Maronna (b. 10/8/77) (role: Jeff McCallister) was 20 years old.
Devin Ratray (b. 1/11/77) (role: Buzz McCallister) was 20 years old.
Angela Goethals (b. 5/20/77) (role: Linnie McCallister #1) was 20 years old.
Hillary Wolf (b. 2/7/77) (role: Megan McCallister) was 20 years old.
Kieran Culkin (b. 9/30/82) (role: Fuller McCallister) was 15 years old.
Senta Moses (b. 8/8/73) (role: Tracy McCallister) was 24 years old.

I don't think part 3 should have been made...I mean, how much more could they have done with the premise without it becoming stale? Plus I hate when movies/TV shows of a recurring series are re-done with new characters. But in the case of Home Alone I doubt that it would've been any better even if the original cast reprised their roles as the McCallisters.

I actually would have liked to see how Macaulay Culkin would have done the whole Home Alone 3 plot with the computer chip, but unfortunately some jerks at Fox refused to let Chris Columbus direct both sequels back to back (as a big fan of Macaulay Culkin I pretty much hated seeing any sequels with another kid, despite him getting too old to continue the part). Even if they did make Home Alone 3 with the original cast I would still say Home Alone 2 is my favorite one in the series.

Heh, do I detect a smidge of sarcasm here? :)
