I didn't say I wouldn't think twice about it. Of course I would, no matter what I chose to do id feel bad about it for a while. I just cant see how i'd bring myself to lift up a shovel and smack an animal with it.

Yeah, well. I can't say I'm so surprised to read this after that whole Guinea Pig debacle.

Seriously, then they're just asking for it. Fuck the shovel, bust out a Koosh Paddle Ball paddle and make 'em pay!

Yeah, now all the sudden in the bad guy because I have mixed feelings about killing an animal.

This thread is purely circumstantial. If YOU had come across a baby raccoon with its face torn up and front paws lopped off from being hit by a car, what would YOU do? If you had the means, would you end its suffering, or would you leave it crying and in excrutiating pain because it's easier for you?

(This is not a poke at the OP, as I understand you didn't have the means to euth.)

I already told you that both options suck in different ways, but of course its better to ends its suffering, that doesn't mean it would be easy for me. I don't know what i'd do, perhaps i'd call animal control.

Especially if they've been snorting rails of Coke. I used to run with some pretty rough raccoons, man. I could tell you stories.

Sorry, there is obviously a language barrier. Animal Control would be the smart thing, but at least you'd do the ethical and humane thing if it was an option.

It would be easier to have one of those shots that just put it to sleep on-hand lol, id feel like im hurting it by killing it with a shovel, if that makes any sense, it probably doesn't.

Why does everyone keep mentioning Animal Control?

Aren't those the guys that beat the crap out of animals that have overstepped their boundaries?

I'm thinking there wouldn't be much sense in beating the crap out of an animal that's dying.

Well, ideally, only one "blow" would be needed to end its suffering. If you can save it pain, why don't you?

One day when I was walking to work I saw an injured robin on its back with its wings sprawled out on the curb of a busy street. It might've been paralyzed. It was kind of sad to watch because it was like looking around and chirping angrily almost like it was going "WHY GOD?! WHY?!" I almost wanted to scoop it up and toss it off a nearby bridge to its doom and put it out of its misery. It sounds strange but I didn't have the heart to do it and I was already running late and a scorching case of west nile virus wasn't worth it so I left it there. That's my fucked up story of the day...

I understand..I once missed a college exam for the exact same reason..due to a bird saying (haha) exactly this. But this one seemed like it might survive--so I wound up driving 40 minutes away to a vet..I was allowed to take the test later, but I called the vet and the bird died anyhow. A few years later I missed a job interview for the same type of bird(catbird) I never got that job and again, the bird died. Still, I probably would do it again just because I am obviously crazed. :?

Yes, the Animal Control person in my area is a stupid, nasty, mean bitch who doesn't even like animals. I called her last year about a baby deer (the size of al cat-another story) and she was so mad.."NOW I AM GOING to have to keep IT"..!! And was very happy when I told her I had the space/situation to keep it. She even made a nasty comment about my shoes..(basic flat work shoes..) as if I had some type of fancy" shoes that made me a person who could not deal with anything. So much for help from her unless she takes it home and eats it, I think
