We couldn't carry around our bookbags in middle school either, I was so glad when we were allowed at my high school. I never used my locker in high school.

Back when I wan in elementary school (86'-87';) I attended a christian school. Around that time you were cool when you rocked a full tail and cuffed you jeans and wore karate kicks. You guys should remember that. The boys had the long tails and the girls had the puffy bangs. Well, all the boys had to cut theirs off because it was prohibited in school grounds. That was lame. Oh, and another one was that you couldn't where or even sport any brand of cartoon that wasn't kid friendly (i.e. the simpsons). I used to have a bart simpson lunchbox and was forced not to bring it; a rule made by the school officials. Man, christian schools bites.

yea, my middle school banned simpsons t-shirts, can't really think of any others at the moment but i'm sure there were many.

I really hate those people they hire at my school just to come in at lunch and walk around the cafe making sure all the garbage is thrown out. It seems fine, but they come right when you are eating, and they expect you to stand up and throw something out before you even begin to start eating. Like me and my friends put all of our garbage in the corner of the table, then when the bell rings or if we leave the cafe to go out we throw it out. We dont need these people. Some times they come around and collect it themselves, and I just want to hand one of them a job aplication to walmart, and say here you go, get a real fucking job. Man they are all creepy to, they stand around the tables and listen to people s conversation and stare at you...

My K-12 school forbade students from kissing on campus or under the supervision of faculty because it was a private religious school. The faculty would usually look the other way, though. I was secretly thankful for the rule because I never had a girlfriend in all the 13 years that I went to the school. Whenever I saw couples sneaking kisses, I would feel kind of depressed. Anyway, I thought the rule was dumb because it just encouraged couples to seek out privacy, which would allow them to do more than just kiss if they had found a place that was private enough.

Our school also had a no-backpacks rule starting at around 1999. You know what I did? I fucking brought mine anyway. Even when they told me not to bring it, I wouldn't listen. And they never did anything to me about it either.

We also had a short-lived no-camouflage rule. I got busted for that as I was leaving school for the day (I went to vo-tech in the afternoons). The principal was like, "Go home and change!" And I was like, "Haha, I'm not going to be back for the rest of the day anyway."

The school in the next town over (about a mile and a half away) had this stupid rule about jackets and coats. Meaning you weren't supposed to wear them. At all. You were only supposed to wear ones that didn't have pockets and could be pulled over your head, apparently. That's even dumber than the no-camo rule we had! From what I heard, a lot of kids never really followed that rule.

actually, i just remembered something that my elementary school did a while back. they bought this HUGE traffic light and plunked it down in the middle of the lunch room. it had a microphone in it and would change from green to yellow and would beep if we got loud, then if we got louder it would turn red and make a louder annoying alarm-clock type buzzer noise and then we'd have to be silent for like 2 mins.

i think they also made some kind of rule that if it went red 3x in the same day we didn't get recess that day.

In 2nd grade red rover was banned because we used to crane people. haha It was awesome.

SOCCER WAS BANNED! I don't know how but it happened in 4th grade.

In high school our class was the worst in school history, we had 190 bomb threats, a stabbing, guns in lockers. (We live in Maine for Christ's sakes!) So because of that you weren't allowed to get a drink or go to the bathroom during class and there was only one bathroom in the school you could use. They also alarmed every door so you couldn't leave unless it was the front door.

                    School sucked haha.

Where in Maine did you go to school? That's some crazy shit LOL I went to Lincoln Academy in Newscastle and highschool was pretty boring until after I graduated. Then a bunch of kids got in accidents and committed suicide, and they had to have cops come in to watch the kids, etc.

In 4th grade my school had a "No Bell Bottom pants" rule. Why? I'm not really sure. It went away the next year when we got a new principal though.

Hated how schools banned the Spud Mackenzie shirts back in the late 80's.

Our high school had a rule put in place randomly that we had to wear our school ID's around our necks at all times. Because they were afraid of people coming in off the streets and posing as students, COME ON! If you didn't wear it you got a detention. I didn't wear mine once and I never got in trouble. Anyways, after many complaints and students not wearing them, the principal decided that we would just have to have them VISIBLE, oh, okay, LOL. I didn't do that either.

I wore a uniform in high school, so we had all kinds of crappy uniform rules. I think the dumbest was that we had to wear socks at all times. We were allowed to wear sandals, as long as we wore socks with them.

These are some strange rules, to be honest. I know the middle school I went to (now an elementary school) enacted a no backpack rule during the school day (you could still bring your backpack to and from school, but you had to keep it in your locker all day), but that was after I graduated from there.

My high school (Columbia High School, East Greenbush, NY) discussed enacting an ID rule similar to what NickRules described above in 2000, but decided not to. They made all the teachers wear name tags, though, which was a little weird. The only thing I remember using ID cards for in high school was to take books out of the library.

lol WHAT? Are you suggesting I was trouble maker at school? Not at all, the only reason i'd ever need to go to the office was for all my unexcused absences.

In middle school if you wore shorts they had to go below your fingertips, according to how tall you were from you arms down. Even then sometimes they didn't like them. (except for gym related things)
