It's proven fact that Zelda is indeed an RPG.

Zelda is NOT an RPG. It is an ACTION RPG, not in the traditional sense you're thinking of. It's really more of an Adventure game, when you're not running around getting into random battles.

No, Zelda is an Adventure game. Zelda II, however, is an Action RPG.
            Game... ovahhhhhhhhh!!!

thank God I'm not the only person who realizes this. I've been arguing with people for years that Zelda is not a fucking RPG, I should know, I've played everything from Pen & paper D&D to text based, to The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and everything in between. Its what I do, its what I know, do not question that.

Zelda II: the Adventure of Link, ironically being the only one with the word 'Adventure' in the title is the only one that isn't an adventure but is actually an RPG and is the ONLY Zelda game that is an RPG.

I never beat Zelda II because I would always get too far into the game and forget where I left off and what I was supposed to do next. Thank God for the journal/diary system in today's RPGs...

I don't know how anyone anywhere was ever expected to finish Wild Arms on PS1 cuz I even had the strategy guide to that game and couldn't beat it. So did Dragon Warrior 4, that game is impossible to beat without a map of some sort. The little 2 kilobyte ocean was... well I thought, waaaaaaay too big for a 2D NES RPG.

Too easy to get lost in unless you go one space at a time and count. okay I'm rambling, sorry yall

Yea, I've always considered Zelda an Adventure game not an RPG for the fact that there's no turn based battle or experience gathering and really no numerical stats to worry about.

I always thought Zelda was considered more of an Adventure game, not an RPG. I know I've been saying that for years. I call it an Adventure game with RPG characteristics.

it's like the back to the future movies, you can't categorize them.

It has some RPG elements but it's definitely more of an Adventure game. I guess if you wanted to you could call it an Adventure/RPG like some in this thread have, but if somebody were to categorize I imagine most wouldn't file it under RPG.
