I have the director's cut dvd, I want to upgrade to one of the new collector's editions some time.
It's thoughtful, yet filled with action. There are great performances and great style. I totally agree, also the cinematography and score are amazing too. I've always been a Daryl Hannah fan so her being there also sweetens the pot.
Some interesting trivia, the job of scoring the film was first offered to Pete Townshend on the basis of him being highly skilled with keyboards, being a multi instrumentalist and getting an Oscar nomination for his film score for the film version of Tommy but he turned down the offer. He had put in nearly 20 hour days working on the Tommy film score to the point where he almost had a nervous breakdown and had a fear the same thing would happen again.
