    Utterly horrific and realistic slasher film from 1980 with make-up effects by Tom Savini, this shocking movie has graphic gore like the infamous exploding head and women being killed then having their scalps removed.

    Not for the faint of heart, this movie puts "Hostel" to shame.

      		 I caught Maniac on IFC one night, and I got completely freaked out by it. Joe Spinell (I think that was the actors name?) Did an awesome job as the Maniac, in fact I kind of thought he was for real. Thats how good he was. It did have really good effects for a movie that was released in 1980. I had to cover my eyes when he was scalping the hooker. XD

      Btw my cousin has Hostel on DVD, and I thought it was really bad. It doesn't compare to Maniac. To me it was soft-core porn more than anything.
