I think I should do an article about hurricanes of our past. Why? because Hurricane season is starting up soon.

Well didn't you complain that your last weather related article went to the back pages really quickly? I know you have this strange fascination with weather and hardly have any conversations about anything without mentioning the weather, but I think you're also smart enough to know that very few readers here care about weather of the past, so I say go for it, provided you're okay with it hitting the back page really quickly....

In 1989 Hurrican Hugo hit the coast of the Carolinas hard. It was in between a class 3 and 4 and it was the worst to date. There are still some remnants of the storm, like forests of fallen trees and such

Up here in the northeast we had Hurricane Gloria in the mid 80s. It hit my area, New Jersey, though it was Long Island that really got affected.

Don't forget about Iniki. It hit Hawaii a few weeks after Andrew did. Of course you've got the "classics" Andrew, Hugo, Camille and Donna. Gilbert is probably worth a mention given how strong he got at one point before weakening before making landfall.
