I'd hate to be THAT guy, but the grammar on this website can be downright atrocious. If it's in a forum it doesn't bother me that much. Poorly written articles, on the other hand, irk the hell outta me. A fascinating topic and great pictures is not safe from a negative rating. It's a shame when I have to give a thumb down score because it looks like the article was written by somebody in elementary school.

Come on people, the majority of articles submitted will be on the front page of this website for everyone to see (at least for a little while). Unless your article receives a -4, then it's banished to the backpages from what I understand. Don't embarass yourself, proofread.

Does anybody else get irritated with poor grammar? Or is it just me?

The grammar on most articles sucks! Seriously, most of the kids who write articles here don't even TRY to make sense. And I'm not talking about grammatical errors that people make ordinarily (for example, my grammatical error just now by starting a setence with a preposition), but rather the ones that render articles almost completely illegible! It happens so frequently here. I'm amazed that most of the articles even get approved. Hell, what kind of articles DON'T get approved? Why even have the approval process if all this crap makes it through? I'd rather see well written spam than poorly written articles! Okay, maybe not.

But honestly, if you're writing something that's going to be published for other people to see, at least read it over before you post it to make sure it all makes sense! I don't think anyone is picking on articles that are written with conversational grammar (for example not using proper case, or starting sentences with prepositions) but rather articles that just don't make sense due to the huge grammatical (and spelling) mistakes.

I'm guilty of this, but next time, I'm checking my spelling and grammar for sure.

It ain't just you, man. The grammar thing irritates the crap out of me. I can deal with it on forums (though it still bothers me), but in an article, there's no excuse. Or at least there shouldn't be.

If you're writing an article, and you're not confident in your grammatical skills, have someone who is good at it proofread it and correct it for you. There's no shame in admitting your shortcomings. XD

I seriously hate bad spelling and grammar as well. Unfortunally though I can't spell to save my life. It seems that no matter how many times I spellcheck and proof read my articles after I post them I'm still sure to find a couple of mistakes in there and it annoys me to no end. Although I'm still proud of these articles it seems like the week or two I spent writing and reserching them has gone to waste a little. I really should find someone else to proof read them after I do my series of proof reads.

I try not to let the negative get to me but please try not to use me as an example. :P Although I'm well aware, and at the time I was frusterated, that my article ended up on the back pages there's no need to further embarrass me about an article that I wrote over a year ago.

^^^ Not "excuse." Example. Animation to Live Action 2 was an article that I wrote over a year ago. I was kind of hoping that nobody, and I mean NOBODY, brought up the subject again.
