This is a continuation of Orliaurelijah's article on the logos of the past and how they've changed over the years. I'm covering some of the logos he left out.

    Xerox

    Old

Such a simple, yet iconic logo. Why in the world did they have to change it into this...?

    New

    Baskin Robbins

    Old

The pink and blue colors clash nicely, and the 31 has a nice classic look.

    New

That "BR/31" combo looks pretty neat, but I'm not too fond of this logo overall.

    NBC

    Old (1956-1961)

The original NBC peacock, which was used to represent color TV broadcasts.

    (1979-1986)

This is my favorite of all the NBC logos used. It is a simplified version of the 11-feathered peacock combined with the futuristic N used between 75-79. They went with this after a lawsuit from the Nebraska ETV network due to the similarity in the logos.

    New (1986- )

An even more simplified version of the previous peacock with just six feathers representing NBC's six divisions. The peacock now looks to the right rather than the left.

Safeway had another logo, the "Circle S" that they used from the mid 1950s through December 1981.

Here's a few more logo comparisons, done in the style seen on Orliaurelijah's article:

                  Chevron

The new one looks a little too busy.

                  Konami

Why did Konami have to get rid of the middle logo?

                  Cool Whip

The new one has the name written in whipped topping.

                  Aflac

The old one had a more "serious" look to it.

                  CBC ("exploding pizzas" only)

Ironically, the logo on the left looks more modern than the other two.

                    Hanna-Barbera logo motifs:
1966-1974: Abstract box shaped "HB" motif
1974-1979: Italic skewed abstract "HB" motif with rolling rainbow pattern filled with gold colored HANNA-BARBERA text pattern
                    1979-1986: Swirling Star motif, Scanimated
1986-1991: Swirling Star motif, CGI inflected (new signature text script also used)
                    1986-2002: Signature text motif
"I am such a purist for old information on anything '70s and '80s."

Sorry, but we're not talking about those kind of logos on this thread.

Yeah, I remember that one well. In my opinion, it was way better than the new Hardee's/Carl's logo. I like the Carl's smiley star, but it's not incorporated into the new logo very well.

I know; the old "X" logo was fricking awesome. I thought it still looked pretty modern, what with the pixels and all. I don't know why everything has to be all THREEEEDEEEE LOLZ these days.

There was an article like this, we were just discussing other logos that weren't discussed in the article.

Anyway, I think the new Holiday Inn logo is a piece of crap. Here's a write-up about it by someone who feels differently, but it's still an interesting read.

                                        http://www.underconsideration.com/brandnew/archives/funky_script_takes_eternal_hol.php

Personally, I think the new one has no character. It's so generic, and uncreative. "Oooh, I know, let's put a giant H in a green box with lots of drop shadows and bevels and embosses!" Bleh.
