Hey, what a flashback! Remember the great industrial groups like: Front 242, Ministry, Skinny Puppy, KMFDM, and My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult?
A lot of these bands enabled me to cross-over into the electronic punk-influenced genre known then, as industrial music. I remember in middle school, I'd always see other kids wearing these cool black t-shirts of bands I hadn't heard of. At the time I was mostly listening to The Exploited, Black Flag, and Dead Kennedys. One day at lunch, I met this guy Nathan, and he let me check out some mix tapes of the stuff. It was different, but it definitely had an impact on me. I loved it.
For the next couple of years, I went to shows, met my first girlfriend and pretty much just tore it up. I think by the time NIN started becoming more widely accepted, I lost touch with the whole movement, broke up with my girlfriend, and started getting into bands like Dead Horse and Cancer. That is all.
