I agree. I like a few of their songs but I'm not a fan. I think other hard rock groups of the same era were doing better stuff (Blue Cheer, Frijid Pink, Cactus, Black Sabbath, Blood Rock, Deep Purple...) and that the Who have a better film and live album (The Kids Are Alright and Live at Leeds.)

I've heard a few Led Zeppelin live boots and think they were not a very good live band. I just can't get into all the (literally) 30 minute solos.

Funky guy, live boots? There is a lot of Zeppelin live stuff officially released with good sound quality, you can't judge a band from bootlegs. If you've ever seen The Song Remains The Same, or that DVD that came out a few years ago. Or listened to The Song Remains The Same soundtrack, or Live At The BBC, you would know they are a good live band. I can understand if you're not into the long solos and stuff, but they could play just as well live as in the studio.

I agree that they stole some material, but they put out some very original stuff. Musically they were a great band, lyrically they could sometimes put out something great, but for the most part they jacked old blues stuff, or just sang "baby" every other word.

I've heard/ seen all that stuff too. I thought the BBC 2 cd was the best of that lot but the most part I remained unimpressed.

Well you said you've heard a few live boots, it probably would have been better to say you've heard their actual live stuff and were unimpressed. Who would be impressed with a late 60's to 70's bootleg of a concert? Current concert bootlegs aren't even that impressive.

I've heard both, and as for bootlegs there's lots of 60's and 70's ones that sound just fine. I'm talking about ones sourced from FM radio broadcasts, soundboard tapes and audience tapes made using top of the line gear.

I've downloaded a lot of old concerts from The Who, The Doors, and several other bands that supposedly came from the soundboard, and they sounded bad. Soundboards aren't always the greatest source. The only reason the MTV Unplugged concert by Stone Temple Pilots wasn't released on CD is because the soundboard recordings were flawed. That's the 90's, a soundboard from the 60's/70's was probably ancient in comparison to that one. "Soundboard" does not equal quality.

Well, they could do things that Limp Bizkit could only dream of.

It's one thing to prefer one band over another, but Limp Bizkit was technically an awful band. They couldn't play their instruments well if their life depended on it.

Yes, because none of those 60's or 70's band even come close to reaching the bar set by Fred Durst.

Who's going to remember Slipknot or Limp Bizkit 40 years from now? Without all of those bands, you probably wouldn't have your precious Limp Bizkit.

Led Zeppelin is one of the greatest bands of all time. I'm not surprised that a majority of the haters on here is comprised of teens. You fucks are the reason MTV is what it is these days.
