IS there a way OUT of the minus world!!!! No, it goes on forever.
How do you get to the Minus world anyway ? Something to do with glitching through the wall at the end of World 1-2 and entering a warp zone pipe really quickly. Never actually did it, I have the All-Stars version.
just above the pipe leaving world 1-2, there are bricks right above your head. leave the brick touching the pipe alone. now break the other 2 bricks to the left of that one. now stand on the top of the pipe all the way at the edge, and jump up. as you jump up press to the right at the highest point of his jump. remember face to the left, jump straight up(hold A) Then press to the right. while he's jumping to the right he should be facing the left. you'll notice that while jumping backwards to the right, marios head kinda goes right through the brick touching the pipe. keep repeating this until you get "caught" into the brick and dragged through the wall. when you enter the wall, start walking to the right until you start seeing the 1st warp pipe that can be seen. keep walking until you drop to the ground and enter that pipe fast. when you enter the pipe the screen is gonna try to catch up to you. but you'll already be down in there. VIOLA -1!! Incidentally, if you go down the middle pipe instead after doing this wall trick, you get to warp to world 5 which you cant normally do until world 4-2. you're welcome this only works on the original version of super mario bros. for NES or the version on Animal Crossing for gamecube, not the super NES allstars version.

In addition, I've found that if you don't jump from a crouching position it won't work as often. I.E. if Super Mario is standing straight up and you jump and move backwards he won't seem to catch. If you hold down on the control pad and then jump and move backwards, he'll catch and then stand up as he walks through the wall.
It's a technical glitch, therefore it's not in the All-Stars or Gameboy versions of the game, that much I know. What happens in the game has something to do with the pointer that's activated when you jump down a pipe, like it does not have time to prepare to become the link to 4.1. I know of TONS of wacko-levels to be had by using a Game Genie, I think I'll try to post the codes up here in a few, I gotta mount my C: partition though to do it.

It's then official; it hadn't been our All-Stars ... what happened during that time of my childhood that I don't remember!? :?: :?: :?: Okay, this is just driving me insane. However, thanks for clearing that up for me Mike and Link I don't feel as confused about which it was.
