..usually helped out with by Channel 4.

Dead Mans Shoes, This Is England, I.D., Scum, The Firm.....

.....some superb films in there not fucked in the arse by Hollywood bullshit.

Recommend you watch all of them.

I keep trying to sit through Withnail And I but I can't. It's supposed to be brilliant so there must be something wrong with me. :( I love the original Wicker Man. I didn't see the remake as just from the trailers I could tell they fucked it up.

I really liked Sexy Beast when I saw it and I have the movie Frank Roddam directed of the Who's Quadrophenia in 1979 on DVD. There's a really good and really long riot sequence in that one.

The story goes that at the cinemas when that was shown in England, mods and rockers were sat in opposite ends of the theatre and cheered each fight. IE, when a mod was hurt, the rockers cheered, etc.... apparently, that ended in a riot, too.

The English tend to do a lot of fighting.

Quadrophenia is indeed another film you need to add to the list I started at the top.

Those Guy Ritchie movies are pretty clever with their plot devices, but there's one thing that bugs me. It's that snappy back-and-forth patter that turns basically every single character into a Kevin Smith-type one-lining stand-up comic. I have to hand it to him on character development, however. Top-notch.

Guy Ritchies films are indeed cool. But he's a twat. And so is his wife.

Yep. It makes every character have the exact same personality.
It's like he thought that cramming witty little comebacks into every character's dialogue was far more important than making each character unique.

I think the older and more cynical I get, the less I like his movies. He seems like one of those guys that thinks he's unbelievably cool, just because he makes movies about gangsters that say "fuck" a lot.

I liked Gangster No. 1 and I'll Sleep When I'm Dead. Clive Owen and Malcolm McDowell=YUM!

There are tons of awesome British flicks. Too many to name!

True that. You go back and watch stuff you thought was badass in high school and suddenly you realize that every character is just Geno Fatton after she moved to Manchester and married a pedophile.
