To those who remember and loved Earnest P. Worrel, how many of you can remember his show "Hey, Vern, It's Earnest!" which aired on CBS back in 1988?

I didn't see it when it was new, but I used to get up at 5:00am to watch it in reruns during the early 90s.

I LOVED this show, I was relligious about watching this show; It had Mrs Simmon Simmons who taught you about manners, Dr Otto, That robot with the smiley face, that guy with the lizard for a roommate, the dust bunny, Chuck and his brother Bobby, the sound effects guy who always made a fart noise sound effect, the barber who always messed up Ernest's hair alway confuseing "Wallstreet Tycoon" for something else, and many other weekly gags.

One of the greatest live action children's shows ever. Sort of like a Pee-Wee's playhouse for rednecks, but with mass appeal. Jim Varney was brilliant, and he is sorely missed.

Didn't "Vern" and Earnest start out on commercials, that graduated to having his own TV show, that lead to those "Earnest does everything" movies? I think they were pimping Robert's Dairy products.

Yes. They did start out commercials at first. Then later there was the kids show. When he says "Vern" he's reffering to us or whoever is watching his show. :)

I remember the show "Hey Vern, It's Ernest". Is that the show with Jim Varney as Ernest?
