Does anybody else love this movie? The classic 1986 tale of Robin Williams and Kurt Russell replaying a football game that they lost 13 years earlier. It's a great comedy/sports film.

I saw it for the first time about 2 months ago. I saw it at family video and thought to myself "Wow! A movie with Russell & Williams together... and I haven't seen it?!" So I obviously had to watch it.

It was really good. I liked it a lot. I was expecting worse since I never heard of it before hand. Definitely had to buy it afterwards.

Oh yeah, it's one of my all time favorites man. I can't believe you had never heard of it. It used to come on HBO like every day in the late 80's. I'll admit, it's not Robin William's best performance, but Kurt Russsell is the man in it. Don't get me wrong, Williams has some funny lines, but mostly at the end during the game when he's lined up against "Dr. Death". And the end is so uplifting, when Robin Williams catches the same pass he dropped all those years ago.

I admit part of the reason I like it is because I had a similar thing happen to me. In 7th grade, my first year of football there was a game I screwed the pooch in. The other team scored a touchdown to tie the game with only a few seconds left. And they lined up for the extra point for the win. Their kick was blocked, and if they picked it up and ran it in they would get the two point conversion and win. And since I didn't know that I could pick up the blocked kick and run it back for a score, I just jumped on the ball, thinking I had saved us from losing.

The thing was the blocked kick landed about 20 yards behind everybody else, so if I had picked it up I had a sure shot at scoring, I'm was pretty fast, and I would have been home free. But since I thought the ball would be dead as soon as I got posession I just jumped on it. Long story short, the game went into overtime and we lost. Had I just picked up the ball and ran we would have won. That haunted me for years.

It haunted me just like it did Robin Williams character who dropped the pass in the big game 13 years before. Only I didn't get the chance to replay the game like he did in the film.

My favorite parts are when Jack lines up against "Dr. Death" and the smack talk they have with each other, or the part where Reno tells Jack he'll be lined up against Dr. Death and somebody says "I thought he was in prison" and somebody else says "No, he got paroled", and the look on Jack's face when they say that.

I love this movie and will have to buy it one of these days. Great story and nostalgic feel to it. Some good quotes in this one too.
Luther Jackson: Uh, two minutes left to kick-off. Time for my last smoke.
Reno Hightower: You lazy jive-ass! You're soft, you're slow and your hands are for shit!
Luther Jackson: Hey, who woke you up?

"You ready for some more medicine, Dr. Death?"

"You better watch yourself, Dr. Death. I'm pretty fast for a Caucasian!"

                    I love that movie.
