As many people know Boomerrang and the cartoon network air some old cartoons Boomerrang more than the Cartoon Network, I'm wondering whos with me in the thought that there should be a new Cartoon channel thats dedicated to NOTHING but 80s Cartoons I think it would be the greatest thing to Happen since the creation of Transformers to happen to the 80s. Until the Day........

Cartoon network covers a few of the more populare 80's toons but there are just so many of them that have not seen the light of day in years. I would also emagine the rights to these old cartoons could be bought rather cheaply too.

I'd be happy if Boomerang just fit in a few more 80's shows into their rotation. Every now and then, they'll have blocks of shows from a certain year, but its usually from the 60's or 70's. When they do cover the 80's, the majority are lame Hanna Barbara shows. At least they have GI Joe and Centurians.

Definately. Anything that allows me to skip past crap like Ed, Edd and Eddy and the Powerpuff Girls is A-OK with me.

I'd say, mix the more popular cartoons (Smurfs, Snorks, Thundercats, He-Man, etc.) with rarer stuff (Prince Valiant, Count Duckula), and throw in a nice, big, fat block of DIC cartoons (C.O.P.S., Super Mario Bros.; these were my favourites), and we'd be good to go.

Basically, cover most stuff from Fat Albert to about 1993. If you have to for completeness sake, throw in crap like Space Race, and all that other Hanna-Barbera crap, but you can bet I'd skip that.

Or at least Cartoon Network should remove some of the recycled crap that is called "Scooby Doo" and "Looney Toons." Those are good cartoons, except Scooby Doo, but they are aired so many times.

The only old school cartoons I see on Cartoon Network today are Tom and Jerry and Scooby Doo. I have respect for both even though they've been played out here. But DONT diss the Looney Toons man. I would kill to have them run Looney Tunes on Cartoon Network cus that stuff is legendary. The Looney Tunes are better than any new cartoon out there today, even though they are over 40 years old.

Yes, I do like them, but I hate it when they put something so many times, even if it's my favorite show. Now that I look at Cartoon Network, I've noticed they don't show them anymore. We used to have cable until 2001, but I just got cable once again. Now they need to remove Codename: Kids Next Door, Grim & Evil, Atomic Betty, Totally Spies *cough*Sluts*cough*, a a bunch of others.

Unless you guys can convince thousands of little kids to stop watching these shows, you're out of luck. Face it, kids today like crap.

Completely agree! I ahve a 10 year old sister who watches all these new shows, and the are awful. I think that if they showed this old shows that everoyne is talking about, then it would expose another generation to the great programming we got watch. They should def put on an all-80's and early 90's cartoon channel, even if you have to pay for it every month, because i def would.

If you want a really bad offender of recycling cartoons I got one word for you: Disney.

They have not one but THREE stations which they can recycle their junk. ABC, Disney Channel, and Toon Disney (the satellite channel).

And what shows get recycled constantly? Recess, House of Mouse, Proud Family, Kim Possible, and whatever new Power Rangers series is airing.

And if you're looking for classic Disney TV animation on ToonDisney (like Gummi Bears and Ducktales) forget it! I look at ToonDisney's weekly schedule and it is appalling. Especially since they devote their 9am-3pm block to daily marathons of the same old shows! I hate marathons on cartoon stations! Cartoon Network always makes some dumb excuse to have a recycled show marathon and Toon Disney does the same!

                        http://psc.disney.go.com/abcnetworks/toondisney/schedule/index.html

The newest Power Rangers series are also on Toon Disney which completely defeats the purpose of being called Toon Disney. I mean didnt these people think that we would be looking for classic Disney TV animation?

And notice how few Disney Afternoon classics (aside from Gargoyles because this channel thinks it needs to devote every night to action cartoons they didnt even make) are on ToonDisney and look at which block they get...that's right the Midnight to 6am block!

I personally am VERY sick of seeing Scooby Doo and all of their remakes! It was never that good in the first place!!! It's truly sad that the current generation of kids like this crap. I personally think they like it because they don't show anything better.

Recess is OK but the other cartoons on Disney suck! What happened to Chip'n Dale, Duck Tales, Gummi Bears, Talespin, etc.? Those were better than Proud Family, Brandy and Mr. Wiskers, and Lilo and Stitch the show (which is aweful unlike the movie). :x

I wonder what is so hard about putting good shows on TV anymore? :?

Yes, I think an 80's themed channel would be great!

Hey now, IMO Recess rules. Too bad I haven't been able to see it lately...

And, yes an all 80's cartoon channel would rule. Super Mario *, Legend of Zelda, and Sonic the Hedgehog all the way !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The old Doug is still sort of owned by Nickelodeon (I think.) You'd have to convince them to sell their rights to it.

Sorry for digging up such an old topic but there really need to be an 80s cartoon channel. I get bored watching Boomerang sometimes. Throw in some old commericals and cool bumpers and call it a day. If this was my channel this would be strictly 80s cartoons. For the record Doug is not 80s either is Talespin.
